Ipswich Town secured direct promotion to the Premier League.

Entering the decisive match at their home ground, Portman Road, Ipswich made no secret of their ambition to determine their own fate. They started like a dream when George Hirst opened the scoring after a sharp combination in the 3rd minute. Just 5 minutes later, Jaden Philogene-Bidace doubled the lead, sending the atmosphere in the stands into an frenzy.

Two early goals gave the home team complete control of the game. Under the guidance of manager Kieran McKenna, Ipswich played highly organized football, with constant high-pressure pressing that made it almost impossible for QPR to develop their game. The midfield controlled the tempo, while the defense maintained its solidity, thwarting every attempt at resistance from the visitors.

In the second half, Ipswich deliberately slowed down the pace but still maintained their dominance. They created many dangerous opportunities and added another goal through Kasey McAteer in the 84th minute. Conversely, QPR appeared helpless against the home team's tight defense.

The 3-0 victory helped Ipswich maintain their second-place finish, just one point ahead of their closest rivals, securing direct promotion. This marks the sixth time in the club's history that they have returned to England's top flight, exactly 90 years since turning professional.

Meanwhile, Milwall, Southampton, Middlesborough, and Hull City finished from 3rd to 6th place respectively. These four teams entered the play-offs to compete for the final spot in the Premier League next season.

Notably, Oxford, Leicester City, and Sheffield Wednesday were the three teams relegated to League One (the third tier of English football).
