As a school administrator and former head teacher in charge of the Youth Union, Mr. Phan Tran Duy Lam boldly applied the topic "Measures to educate students about love for their homeland and national traditions through musical works at Nguyen Chon Secondary School in Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City." Now, instead of simply copying the old model, he proactively adjusts the content and organization to suit the characteristics of the students and the educational environment of Nguyen Chon Secondary School, thereby contributing to renewing traditional education in a way that is more accessible and easier for students to understand.
With his musical talent, the teacher helps students develop a greater appreciation for traditional music through songs he composes on themes of love for their homeland, the sea and islands, and revolutionary traditions, such as: "Proud of Lien Chieu, My Homeland," "The Song of Hoang Sa," "The Homeland Forever Calls," "Advancing in the Footsteps of General Nguyen Chon," "The Daughter of Quang Binh Homeland," etc.
In particular, the song "The Homeland Will Forever Call Your Name," which praises the heroic sacrifice of 10 young female volunteers at Dong Loc Crossroads (Ha Tinh), won the encouragement prize in the "Songwriting Contest commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Dong Loc Victory," directed by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee; and jointly organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper and the Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union.
Meanwhile, the song "The Girl from Quang Binh Homeland," about the female Hero of the Armed Forces Tran Thi Ly - a role model of hard work and courageous fighting - was recorded and broadcast on Vietnam Television (VTV), Vietnam National Defense Television (QPVN), and People's Television (NhanDanTV)... During extracurricular activities at the school, Mr. Lam always introduced and popularized revolutionary songs to students to cultivate and spread love for their homeland and country.
Teacher Duy Lam expressed his hope that through songs and music, students would gain a full understanding of a glorious era and the fine traditions of our nation. From there, he hoped to evoke empathy in them for the sacrifices and losses of their ancestors, helping them to live more virtuous and meaningful lives.
Besides composing music, teacher Phan Tran Duy Lam was also an outstanding Youth Union and Young Pioneers leader, receiving the "Pink Swallow" award from the Central Youth Union and many commemorative medals for his contributions to the younger generation. He has always been at the forefront of research and to date has had 10 educational initiatives recognized at various levels, including 7 initiatives at the city level.
Many of his professional articles and musical compositions have been published in prestigious journals of the Central Youth Union and broadcast on national television stations, creating a widespread impact in the community.
Through these contributions, the teacher's efforts to innovate the teaching of historical traditions to students through music not only awaken patriotism but also contribute to building a generation of young people with identity and responsibility.
