Innovation and creativity to meet the requirements of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation.

On the afternoon of March 27th, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations held a conference on the implementation of tasks for 2025. Comrade Trinh Tuan Sinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, and Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, presided over the conference.

According to the report, the Standing Committee of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations has recently focused on developing a plan to disseminate and study the directives and resolutions of the Party and State, as well as the resolutions of the Congress, to the members of the Executive Committee and member associations.

The Union pays close attention to and regularly carries out information and communication work on people-to-people diplomacy through media and social networks, affirming the position, role, and importance of people-to-people diplomacy in the fields of peace , solidarity, friendship, cooperation with the people of other countries, and the work of mobilizing foreign non-governmental aid.

Kim Ngoc Hiep, Secretary General of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, reported on the implementation of tasks in the past period and the plan for 2025.

Cooperation and friendly solidarity with localities and international organizations have been strengthened. The Union has also actively implemented and carried out the work of mobilizing foreign non- governmental aid projects and achieved positive results, contributing to the province's success in attracting foreign non-governmental aid; actively integrated external information work into its activities; participated in working with international organizations and foreign businesses to inform about the potential and investment opportunities as well as promote the culture and people of Thanh Hoa province to domestic and international friends; and performed well in charitable and humanitarian activities.

Pham Ba Oai, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, delivered a speech at the conference.

The Union also coordinates with the Department of Foreign Affairs and friendship associations with other countries to organize people-to-people diplomatic activities associated with the commemoration of major national holidays; promotes the development of branches of friendship associations in districts, paying attention to young members with scientific and technical knowledge and business people; strengthens efforts to attract aid from international organizations and foreign non-governmental organizations; connects with Thanh Hoa people's associations abroad, organizes the provision of information on potential investment opportunities to encourage and mobilize overseas Vietnamese to contribute to the development of their homeland...

During the conference, members of the Executive Committee of the Union raised several difficulties in the Union's operations, such as: difficulties in financial resources, personnel, and operational facilities, which have a certain impact on the implementation of activities of the Union and its member organizations. In addition, some member associations do not operate regularly and are not proactive in their activities. There is a risk of aging members, and the development of branches and the recruitment of members, especially young people, remains limited. Efforts to attract foreign non-governmental aid are also facing difficulties due to current approval procedures and state regulations.

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Trinh Tuan Sinh, Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, affirmed and acknowledged the important results achieved by the Union in 2024 and the first months of 2025, especially in the areas of information dissemination and promotion of Thanh Hoa's image and people internationally; coordinating and advising provincial leaders on attracting investment and strengthening relations with partners with whom Thanh Hoa has friendly cooperation; directly securing 7 foreign non-governmental projects; and securing several aid projects such as those aimed at enhancing women's capacity, developing livelihoods, and sustainable resource management.

The comrade emphasized that in the coming period, the regional and global situation is predicted to be complex and unpredictable; opportunities, advantages, difficulties, and challenges are intertwined. In particular, 2025 is a very important year as the whole country implements the restructuring of the administrative apparatus at all levels, with many major national and provincial events, requiring closer attention to propaganda and people-to-people diplomacy.

To continue effectively implementing the Party and State's guidelines and policies on foreign affairs; and to make the province's people-to-people diplomacy increasingly effective, substantive, and in-depth, the comrade suggested that the Union continue to study and disseminate to its member associations the documents and resolutions of the Central Government and the province; organize training conferences to update information and situations for key leaders of the Union and its member associations on people-to-people diplomacy; and continue to promote activities of peace, solidarity, friendship, and cooperation based on prioritizing the development of in-depth relations with the people of neighboring countries and countries that hold important positions in the province's foreign policy.

In addition, it is suggested that member associations continue to coordinate with all levels and sectors to effectively organize exchange activities to commemorate major national holidays; strengthen efforts to attract aid from international organizations and foreign non-governmental organizations; develop proposals and organize meetings with the People's Aid Coordination Board, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, and a number of foreign non-governmental organizations to solicit aid in order to improve the effectiveness of investment attraction and the effectiveness of non-governmental activities.

The comrade also suggested that the Standing Committee of the Union study creative solutions to continue connecting with Thanh Hoa associations abroad; organize the provision of information on potential investment opportunities to encourage overseas Vietnamese to contribute to the development of their homeland; promote the image of the people, culture, and land of Thanh Hoa to international friends to serve the socio-economic development of the province; innovate the exchange, provision, and management of information; and strengthen the organization of member associations to meet the requirements of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation.
