According to our reporter's observations, during the "Exchange Recyclable Waste for Gifts" program organized by the People's Committee of Dinh Hoa Ward (Thu Dau Mot City), many residents brought bags of recyclable waste to exchange for gifts including daily necessities. On the first day of the campaign, the Organizing Committee collected 670 bottles and cans of various types, 275 advertising flyers, and 45 kg of paper.

According to Mr. Pham Hung Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dinh Hoa Ward, the above activity aims to call on households in the area, especially businesses, to join hands with the local authorities in environmental protection through daily actions, such as: disposing of garbage at the right time and place; participating in daily general cleaning and sweeping in front of their houses; not dumping solid waste into manholes; not discharging wastewater into the environment without treatment; equipping businesses with garbage bins and sorting solid waste at the source…

"This activity also aims to further promote communication activities on environmental protection, raise awareness and change community behavior regarding the implementation of environmental protection activities in residential areas, with the motto 'For a litter-free Dinh Hoa ward'," said Mr. Pham Hung Son.

Meanwhile, at this program organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lai Thieu Ward (Thuan An City) in coordination with the Women's Union, the Youth Union, the Red Cross, and other units, more than 200 gifts were exchanged on the first day, with a total value of 4 million VND. The program collected 1,302 empty beer cans, soft drink cans, plastic bottles, and 62 kg of scrap paper, old books, and newspapers.

The program aims to raise community awareness about "Building a cultured and civilized urban lifestyle"; the harmful effects of plastic waste, limiting the use of non-biodegradable nylon bags and switching to reusable bags. From there, it seeks to change habits regarding the use of plastic products, improve waste sorting, dispose of waste properly, contribute to reducing environmental pollution, protect human health, and gradually build Lai Thieu ward into a civilized and sustainably developed urban area.
