According to the reporter's records, in the program "Exchange recyclable waste for gifts" organized by the People's Committee of Dinh Hoa Ward (Thu Dau Mot City), many people brought bags of recyclable waste to exchange for gifts including daily necessities. On the opening day, the Organizing Committee collected 670 bottles and cans of all kinds, 275 classified ads, and 45kg of paper.

According to Mr. Pham Hung Son, Chairman of Dinh Hoa Ward People's Committee, the above activity aims to call on local households, especially businesses, to join hands with the locality in environmental protection through daily activities, such as: Disposing of garbage at the right time and place; participating in general cleaning and sweeping in front of the house every day; not dumping solid waste into manholes; not discharging untreated wastewater into the environment, equipping trash cans at businesses and classifying solid waste at the source...

“This is also an activity to further promote communication activities on environmental protection, raise awareness and change community behavior in implementing environmental protection activities in the residential community, with the motto of a garbage-free Dinh Hoa ward,” said Mr. Pham Hung Son.

Meanwhile, in this program, organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lai Thieu Ward (Thuan An City) in coordination with the Women's Union, Youth Union, Red Cross and other organizations, on the first day, more than 200 gifts were exchanged with a total cost of 4 million VND. Through the program, 1,302 beer cans, soft drink cans, plastic bottles and 62kg of scrap paper, old books and newspapers of all kinds were collected.

The program aims to raise public awareness of “Building a civilized and cultural urban lifestyle”; the harmful effects of plastic waste, limiting the use of hard-to-decompose nylon bags and switching to reusable bags. From there, change the habit of using plastic products, classifying waste, and disposing of waste in the right place, contributing to reducing environmental pollution, protecting human health, and gradually building Lai Thieu ward into a civilized ward and a sustainable urban area.
