* PRE-MATCH ANALYSIS
In the semi-final match held yesterday (October 6th), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team faced Japan. Thanh Thúy and her teammates played with great effort and at times created a balanced game, engaging in a dramatic back-and-forth battle with their opponents. After losing the first two sets, Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt's team won the third set to take the match to a fourth. However, in the decisive moments, the Japanese team (ranked 9th in the world ) still showed their superior class and ultimately won with a score of 3-1.
Unable to spring a surprise against Japan, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team had to play in the bronze medal match. In the other semi-final, Thailand lost to host China. Thus, the two teams with a long history of rivalry, Vietnam and Thailand, will once again face each other in the Asian competition.
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team is expected to break their losing streak against Thailand.
In their most recent encounter at the 2023 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team lost 1-3 to Thailand. In that tournament, after defeating Vietnam, the Thai team went on to beat both Japan and China to win the championship. Prior to that, in the SEA Games 32 women's volleyball final (in Cambodia), Thanh Thúy and her teammates also lost 1-3 to Thailand.
Meeting again in the bronze medal match of the 19th Asian Games, this is a good opportunity for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to avenge their previous defeat against Thailand. The dangerous hitter and brightest star on the Thai side is Chatchu On. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet needs to devise appropriate strategies for the Vietnamese blocking line to limit the attacking power of this 1999-born Thai hitter.
Kieu Trinh is the main attacking force of the Vietnamese team.
Thanh Thúy remains the leading figure in the Vietnamese women's volleyball team's attack. In addition, Kiều Trinh also had an outstanding performance against Japan and is expected to continue shining to bring good results for the Vietnamese team.
