US National Security Advisor dodges questions about Ukraine's counterattack?
US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby declined to say on June 23 whether the US was concerned about a Ukrainian counterattack against Russian forces, according to RT.
Speaking to reporters, Kirby was asked whether the White House was concerned that the Ukrainian offensive was "moving slower than desired," as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had acknowledged earlier this week.
Kirby replied, "I certainly don't intend to stand here and talk to the Ukrainian offensive campaign. They're the ones doing it."
However, Kirby went on to explain why Ukrainian soldiers and armored vehicles have repeatedly failed to penetrate Russia's multi-layered defense network, stretching hundreds of kilometers along the front line in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Russia's defense system poses a challenge to Ukraine.
"Sometimes your plan doesn't always go exactly as you expect, but that's something to be aware of when you're in conflict. Again, what we'll be focusing on is ensuring that they ultimately succeed," Kirby emphasized.

Russia issues new warning to the West.
The Russian Foreign Ministry warned the West on June 24 against exploiting the insurgency led by the Wagner mercenary group to achieve what Moscow considers its "anti-Russian" goals, according to AFP.
"We warn Western countries against any suggestion of exploiting Russia's domestic situation to achieve their anti-Russian goals," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"All the objectives of the special military operation (of Russia in Ukraine) will be achieved," the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
36,000 Ukrainian soldiers trained in the West have returned, ready to counterattack.
Earlier that day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Ukraine was taking advantage of the internal turmoil in Russia to concentrate its forces in an attempt to retake Bakhmut, a key city in the Donbass region that Kyiv lost control of in May, according to RT.
Earlier, on the night of June 23, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group, a key Russian force in the Bakhmut conflict, called on rebel forces to fight against the Russian Ministry of Defense after a conflict arose between the two sides.
Meanwhile, on June 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on the Telegram messaging app that what was happening in Russia had exposed Moscow's weakness in relying on mercenaries.
Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev declared on June 24 that Russia would not allow an uprising led by Prigozhin to turn into a coup or a global crisis, according to TASS news agency.

Russia warns of a Ukrainian counterattack.
Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on June 23, Russia's ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said that the counterattack by Ukrainian armed forces was entirely self-destructive, according to TASS news agency.
"The Ukrainian armed forces have been conducting a suicidal counterattack against Russian positions for almost a month now; they have lost tens of thousands of mobilized soldiers and hundreds of armored vehicles," Nebenzya said.
"Now they face a bigger task: how to create victory from complete defeat and failure. Struggling to accomplish this task alongside them are Washington, London, and Brussels, which never thought of Ukraine in this way and its interests," Nebenzya stated.
