Supporting farmers to become wealthy.
In early June 2025, we visited the 1.5-hectare durian orchard of Mr. Lam Chanh Long, a farmer member of Song Xoai village (Lang Lon commune, Chau Duc district), as he was preparing for the harvest. Pointing to the durians hanging heavily on the branches, Mr. Long said that last year his orchard yielded over ten tons of fruit, mainly Ri 6 durians. This year, there are also some Thai durians; although the yield has increased, the price that traders contract to buy at the orchard has decreased, so the profit is not high.
According to Mr. Long, growing durian is not difficult if you master the techniques. “This red basalt soil is very suitable for durian trees. With capital support from the Farmers' Support Fund and participation in training courses on organic durian cultivation, I have more resources and have confidently planted an additional 4 acres of Thai durian, and purchased a drone for spraying pesticides and fertilizing,” Mr. Long added.
In early 2025, seven members of the mushroom farming cooperative in Xa Bang commune continued to receive a loan of 500 million VND from the Farmers' Support Fund. Along with matching funds, the mushroom farmers in the cooperative invested in producing mushroom substrates, repairing mushroom farms, etc., resulting in a significant increase in their income compared to before.
With 26 oyster mushroom and wood ear mushroom farms covering an area of approximately 1 hectare, Mr. Pham Van Tinh, a farmer member of Lien Hiep hamlet (Xa Bang commune), earns over 300 million VND per year. In addition, Mr. Tinh's mushroom farm provides regular employment for 5 local workers, with an income of 8-10 million VND per person per month.
According to Ms. Vu Thi Thuy Linh, Vice President of the Farmers' Association of Xa Bang commune, thanks to the Farmers' Support Fund, many models have been effectively invested in, such as growing edible mushrooms, medicinal mushrooms, and various fruit trees. Through this, members and farmers have built and replicated production models, expanded the scale of their businesses, and contributed to the restructuring of the economy and the development of collective economic forms in rural areas.

Continue disbursing funds.
From the beginning of 2025, the farmers' associations at all levels in the district actively coordinated with the Provincial Farmers' Support Fund to appraise 26 projects. As a result, loans were disbursed to 22 projects/204 households, totaling over 10 billion VND; and loans from the District Farmers' Support Fund were provided to 6 projects/43 households, totaling 2.3 billion VND, for the development of crop cultivation and livestock farming. The capital focused on projects such as breeding goats, raising beef cattle, raising rabbits, raising freshwater fish; cultivating mushrooms, papaya, aloe vera, fruit trees, and cocoa… in the communes of Xa Bang, Lang Lon, Kim Long, Suoi Nghe, Binh Gia, Xuan Son, Suoi Rao…
Thanks to the Farmers' Support Fund, many farmers have boldly invested, expanded production, created jobs, and increased family income. Many good models and new approaches have yielded high efficiency, opening new directions for rural economic development and contributing to the building of the farmers' association and movement.
| As of June 10th, the entire district had a total outstanding loan balance of over 25 billion VND across 57 projects, involving 502 borrowing households. This included 17 crop farming projects with nearly 8 billion VND/154 borrowing households; 37 livestock projects/15.8 billion VND; and 2 projects related to services, traditional crafts, and aquaculture, involving 27 borrowing households. |
Implementing the two-tiered government organizational model as per Conclusion No. 137-KL/TW dated March 28, 2025, of the Politburo , the Farmers' Association has been actively inspecting projects and verifying the debts of borrowers from the Farmers' Support Fund. According to Mr. Than Xuan Dong, Vice Chairman of the Chau Duc District Farmers' Association, the Farmers' Support Fund has become an important credit channel, assisting many farming households in Chau Duc district to develop production, shift the agricultural and rural economic structure, and gradually increase income and achieve sustainable poverty reduction.
“Currently, the needs and aspirations of farmer members to access preferential loan capital for production and business development are still very high. To continue maximizing the effectiveness of the fund's capital for agricultural production, the District Farmers' Association has completed the statistical dossier on the total outstanding debt of the Farmers' Mutual Assistance Fund throughout the district, ready for the handover to the Provincial Farmers' Association and the new commune units for management and operation after the merger,” Mr. Than Xuan Dong said.
