Simultaneously ringing bells and beating drums to pray for national peace and prosperity, starting from July 1st.

(PLVN) - July 1, 2025, marks the first day of operation for localities after mergers. The Vietnam Buddhist Association calls on temples nationwide to simultaneously ring bells and beat drums to pray for national peace and prosperity.

The Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) has just issued a document to the Executive Boards of the VBS in provinces and cities, as well as temples and monastic institutions, regarding the ringing of three bells and drums to pray for national peace and prosperity at 6:00 AM on July 1st.

July 1st, 2025 marks the first day of operation for the newly merged provinces and cities, and the start of the two-tiered local government model nationwide.

According to the Governing Council, this is an extremely special historical event in the process of the nation entering a new era of prosperous development.

With the tradition of Buddhism accompanying the nation throughout its history, the Standing Committee of the Council of Buddhist Affairs respectfully requests the Executive Boards of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in provinces and cities; and all temples and monastic institutions nationwide to ring the three bells and drums of the Prajna Sutra to pray for national peace and prosperity, chant scriptures and perform spiritual rituals to pray for peace, and awaken the strength of national unity and the sacred spirit of Vietnam's land and mountains.
