Value Perception

If we look at it deeply, tourism itself creates unprecedented opportunities for cultural preservation. The interest and need of tourists to discover different and unique things creates a strong economic incentive for local communities to be more aware of the value of their cultural heritage.

Mr. Ban Quy Tinh, Dao Tien ethnic group, Khau Trang village, Hong Thai commune (Na Hang) said: In the past, people cultivated terraced fields once a year, they considered this a very normal highland agricultural activity. However, more and more visitors from other places come to "fascinate" the beauty and climate of Hong Thai.

Tourism activities began to develop strongly, the district planned Khau Trang into a Cultural Village. From here, each family in the village was instructed on how to preserve the yin-yang tiled house architecture, weaving and embroidery, customs and practices of the Dao Tien people. Along with that, ancillary tourism products were exploited such as cloud hunting, pear blossom viewing, Shan Tuyet tea tasting...

Awareness of preserving traditional Dao Tien ethnic culture in the village has been significantly raised, many families have realized its value. In Thuong Minh village, Hong Quang commune (Lam Binh), people previously wished to restore the fire dancing ritual as a spiritual belief need, a unique cultural feature of the Pa Then people.

Thanks to tourism, the work of preserving and promoting traditional culture in the province is promoted.

Mr. Phu Van Thanh, Pa Then ethnic group, Thuong Minh village said: Now the fire dancing ritual of the local Pa Then people is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage of the province. Lam Binh district has developed fire dancing into a unique and outstanding local tourism product.

When witnessing the interest and admiration of tourists for the unique features of the fire dancing ritual, the local people will feel more proud of their heritage. Cultural interactions between tourists and local people create opportunities for exchange, learning and understanding each other, contributing to strengthening the awareness of conservation and Thanks to tourism, the work of preserving and promoting traditional culture in the province is promoted. promoting traditional cultural values.

Community tourism and cultural experience tourism programs are increasingly popular, creating conditions for tourists to directly participate in local cultural activities, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of their meaning and value. This not only brings memorable experiences to tourists but also helps local people become more aware of their role in preserving and passing on cultural heritage to the next generation.

In addition to the fire dancing ritual, the work of preserving and promoting the common cultural values of the Pa Then people is focused on by the government and the people. Brocade weaving, embroidery, and Pa Then costume sewing teams have been established, making the new tourism product more vibrant.

Big direction

Based on its potential strengths, many Provincial Party Congresses have identified tourism development as one of the three breakthrough areas of the province. Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Van Sau - senior expert on tourism (Hanoi) affirmed: Tuyen Quang has all the factors to develop tourism. Through tourism, it is the driving force for the province's cultural preservation work.

For example, the province has 3 potential community cultural tourism villages: Tan Lap Cultural Village, Tan Trao Commune (Son Duong); Van Cuc Village preserving traditional festivals. According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, up to now, the whole province has 54 festivals, of which 48 are traditional festivals and 6 are cultural festivals.

The provincial Department of Culture coordinated with the locality to restore the Com Pounding Festival of the Tay ethnic group.

The province has restored many traditional festivals such as the Long Tong and Com pounding festival of the Tay ethnic group, the Fire Jumping festival of the Pa Then ethnic group, the May Dam festival of the Dao Quan Trang ethnic group, and the Tanh Well Communal House festival of the Cao Lan ethnic group. Tourism has also “revived” intangible cultures, architecture, music, cuisine, traditional crafts, etc. in Khau Trang, Hong Thai commune (Na Hang); Na Tong Cultural Village, Thuong Lam commune (Lam Binh).

In these 3 cultural villages, there are 2 Tay ethnic villages and 1 Dao Tien ethnic village associated with the province's prominent tourist areas and spots. Such as Tan Lap Cultural Village associated with the Tan Trao National Special Historical Site; Khau Trang Cultural Village associated with the 4-season tourist spot in Hong Thai; Na Tong Cultural Village associated with Ben Thuy and the Na Hang - Lam Binh ecological lake area. Every year, the number of tourists to these 3 villages increases rapidly, promising many prospects.

To develop eco-tourism associated with community tourism, Na Hang district is currently planning and building more Cultural Tourism Villages in Ban Bung village, Thanh Tuong commune; Na Kha, Nang Kha commune. Lam Binh district is planning to develop more Cultural Tourism Villages in Nam Dip village, Lang Can town; Thuong Minh village, Hong Quang commune; Ban Bien village, Phuc Son commune; Ban Bon village, Phuc Yen commune.

Ham Yen district plans and builds Pac Cap Cultural Tourism Village, Phu Luu commune; Yen Son district builds and develops Dong Son Cultural Tourism Village, Chan Son commune; Chiem Hoa district develops Ban Ba Cultural Tourism Village, Trung Ha commune; Tuyen Quang city has the prospect of developing Dum village, Nong Tien ward...

In addition to preserving ethnic cultural villages, the province also actively promotes cultural values. Tourism experts affirm that tourism is not only a simple economic sector but also a strong cultural bridge. When exploited intelligently and sustainably, tourism can truly become a great driving force for the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values.

By generating economic resources and raising cultural awareness and pride in local communities, tourism is helping to ensure that valuable local cultural heritage continues to be preserved and passed on to future generations. It is important that we recognise this interdependence and act responsibly so that tourism can truly be a beacon of cultural survival.
