When Duc Anh was 3 years old, his father unfortunately contracted a terminal illness and passed away. Since his father's death, Ms. Luu Thi Lan Huong (Duc Anh's mother) has taken on the roles of both mother and father to raise and educate him.
Knowing that her son lacked a father's affection, Ms. Huong always stayed close to him, caring for his health, closely monitoring his studies, listening to his confidences, and offering helpful advice to help Duc Anh build self-confidence in life. In this way, the boy grew up in the loving embrace of his mother and both his paternal and maternal families.
Out of love for his mother, Duc Anh always strives to study well and diligently do housework so that his mother can focus on her work and have more time to rest. His mother's boundless love for him is the driving force that motivates him to constantly strive for excellence in his studies and life.
At school, Duc Anh was a mischievous, witty, and sociable student. He was very intelligent and sharp in natural sciences , and he especially loved Physics.
Ms. Vu Thi Thu Huong, the teacher in charge of the physics gifted student team at Ly Tu Trong Secondary School, said: "Duc Anh suffers from a stomach ailment, which significantly affects his studies. Despite this, Duc Anh always strives in his studies, achieving the title of all-around excellent student for many consecutive years and achieving high results in district-level gifted student selection exams."
In 9th grade, Duc Anh won third prize in the district-level physics competition for gifted students, but due to a relapse of his stomach ailment, he had to miss the provincial-level competition. At this time, Duc Anh's mother encouraged him to rest, recuperate, and treat his illness completely.
Ms. Huong said: “I always encourage my child that learning is a lifelong endeavor, not just a day or two. I also don't put too much pressure on her regarding academic achievements, but instead encourage her to keep trying and striving. No matter the outcome, I will always be proud of her.”
Once her health stabilized, she focused on studying and remained steadfast in her goal of getting into the specialized Physics class at Vinh Phuc Specialized High School. After much effort in her studies, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a student at Vinh Phuc Specialized High School.”
Sharing his study secrets, Duc Anh said: "In class, I always focus on listening to the teachers' lectures to grasp the basic knowledge. In the evening, I spend about two hours reviewing what I've learned and doing advanced exercises."
As the exam approached, I dedicated all my time to studying Math, Literature, English, and especially focused most of my efforts on Physics to achieve my goal. I am very happy that I achieved good results in the entrance exam for 10th grade high school.
However, I don't consider this the ultimate destination, but merely a small step in my journey to conquer the heights of knowledge. I will strive even harder in my studies and training to continuously improve myself and become my mother's pride."
It was his mother's love, care, sharing, and companionship that motivated Duc Anh to excel in his studies and life. The story of Nguyen Duc Anh's circumstances, his perseverance, and his spectacular leap to the finish line has become an inspiration for generations of students at Ly Tu Trong Secondary School to learn from and emulate. With his relentless efforts and overcoming adversity, Duc Anh has become a source of pride for his family, teachers, and friends.
