Dong Phuoc is transforming.

Following the merger, Dong Phuoc commune (Can Tho City) quickly stabilized its organizational structure, implemented political tasks comprehensively, and achieved many outstanding results in various fields. This not only affirms the correct direction of the commune's Party Committee but also opens up expectations for a new, sustainable, and comprehensive development phase.

The initial impression of the new commune.

Despite its relatively short operating time, under the decisive leadership of the Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Dong Phuoc commune, the commune has achieved and surpassed 16 out of 16 targets set in the 2025 Resolution. According to Ms. Huynh Thi Kim Huong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Phuoc commune, the work of Party building and strengthening the political system has always been a top priority. The commune's Party Committee promptly absorbed, implemented, disseminated, and concretized the Party's directives and resolutions, adapting them to the local situation; and successfully organized the first Party Congress of the commune for the 2025-2030 term.

The commune also focused on arranging and allocating facilities and equipment, consolidating the organizational structure and staff of officials and civil servants after the merger, ensuring smooth, effective, and efficient operation according to the two-tiered local government model. Public relations work and the implementation of grassroots democracy regulations continued to improve; People's Council meetings and voter consultations were organized in accordance with the law. Administrative reform, digital transformation, and the application of artificial intelligence were promoted in many areas, creating favorable conditions for citizens and businesses.

In 2025, the commune's production value reached 1,894 billion VND, achieving 100% of the Resolution's target. Of this, the value of agricultural and fisheries production reached 434 billion VND. The commune currently has 1,513 industrial, commercial, and service establishments, including 127 companies and enterprises. Many production facilities are gradually innovating technology, improving productivity and product quality, expanding business scale, and creating jobs for hundreds of rural workers.

Total state budget revenue in the commune is estimated at nearly 146 billion VND, reaching over 134% compared to the resolution... The socio-cultural sector continues to receive due attention. Local defense and military affairs are maintained; political security and social order are stable, and crime and traffic accidents are kept under control.

Towards sustainable development

2026 marks the first year that Dong Phuoc commune will implement the Resolution of the First Party Congress of the commune, term 2025-2030. Mr. Nguyen Cong Duy, Secretary of the Dong Phuoc Commune Party Committee, stated that the locality will focus on implementing six key tasks, with particular emphasis on improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party organization and its members; and promptly issuing specialized programs and resolutions that are appropriate to the practical situation.

In addition, the commune will strengthen the application of information technology in leadership and management, build an "e-government," and promote comprehensive digital transformation; successfully organize the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term; and maintain political security and social order. The commune will also continue to streamline and consolidate its administrative apparatus for greater efficiency in accordance with Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW.

At the same time, focus on building new rural areas in a practical manner, improving the living standards of the people; pay attention to improving the quality of culture, education, and health; effectively implement social security and sustainable poverty reduction; strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to participate in voluntary social insurance and health insurance; effectively carry out local defense and military tasks...

Notably, the commune has identified three breakthrough tasks: strengthening the application of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in administrative procedure reform; developing "green" tourism products, agricultural and ecological tourism, and river tourism associated with cultural experiences, based on the commune's existing potential destinations such as Ngoc Thanh Farm, Bao Gia Farm, and Go Chanh Homestay; and attracting investment to build transportation infrastructure and schools that meet national standards.

With the determination of the entire political system and the unity of the people, Dong Phuoc is gradually accelerating its development, aiming to improve the quality of life and build a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized locality.
