Coffee price forecast for tomorrow , February 8 , 2025
Robusta coffee prices are currently under pressure due to increased exports from Vietnam. According to data from the General Statistics Office, in January 2025, Vietnam exported 134,000 tons of coffee, a 5% increase compared to the previous month, although trade was slightly affected by the Lunar New Year holiday.
Meanwhile, Arabica coffee prices continue to reach new highs. Arabica futures contracts in New York have surpassed the $4/pound mark, setting a historical price record after 11 consecutive trading sessions. This price increase is mainly due to continuous buying by speculators amidst limited supply.
However, the market is also facing challenges. Some traders note that many investors are experiencing financial difficulties due to misplaced bets in the market. In addition, there are concerns that US President Donald Trump may impose trade tariffs on major coffee-producing countries in South America.
This sharp price increase has impacted the retail coffee market. Roasters in Brazil are concerned that the current situation could lead some companies to supply lower-quality domestic coffee to attract financially struggling consumers.
Arabica prices were also supported by the Brazilian Real rising to its highest level in two and a half months against the US dollar, reducing selling pressure from Brazilian coffee exporters.
In contrast, domestically, the coffee market today (February 7th) remained almost unchanged, increasing by an average of only 100 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Forecasting for tomorrow (February 8th), experts believe that domestic coffee prices are unlikely to hold at today's level of 130,500 VND/kg and may decrease by more than 1,000 VND/kg.
