Opportunities for Dak Nong businesses
For over 5 years, Long Viet Agricultural Service Cooperative (Tuy Duc) has exported dried macadamia products to Cambodia. Although the output is still modest, with about 10 tons per year, entering this new market has created significant opportunities for Dak Nong agricultural products.

Director of the Cooperative Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung said that agricultural products in Cambodia are currently mainly sold raw, and there has not been much investment in processing factories. People in the neighboring country have recently planted macadamia, but have not yet harvested. "This is a good area for us to exploit and expand the consumption market in the coming years. With its border location, exporting to neighboring countries will significantly reduce transportation costs," Ms. Dung emphasized.
Long Viet Agricultural Service Cooperative is currently supplying dried macadamia nuts to many domestic markets, especially the northern provinces. The unit is looking to export agricultural products to neighboring countries.
Huong Que Coffee Import Export Company Limited, Dak Nong, Dak Mil district specializes in processing coffee and cocoa. The company is actively researching and approaching the Cambodian market.

Company director Nguyen Van Quy commented: "Cambodia is a new market, with a lot of potential for local agricultural products. We are trying to understand the criteria of this market to have a suitable direction for export in the future."
Mr. Quy informed that through approaching Cambodian businesses, the unit felt this was a good opportunity to connect trade with partners and customers of the neighboring country.
Dak Nong's export turnover to Cambodia has increased in recent years. However, output is still low and not commensurate with the province's potential compared to neighboring localities.
Border economic development
According to the Dak Nong Department of Industry and Trade, trade activities between Dak Nong and Mondulkiri (Cambodia) have been closely linked in recent times.

Dak Nong supports businesses in organizing activities to introduce, promote and distribute goods at border markets, trade centers, fairs and exhibitions. In the fourth quarter of 2024, the Dak Nong (Vietnam) and Mondulkiri (Cambodia) Trade Fair will take place, gathering about 60 booths with the participation of 50 businesses from both countries. The products on display are mainly agricultural, industrial and handicraft products.
The Industry and Trade Department selects high-quality products to introduce, aiming to promote economic and trade cooperation between the two localities and enhance the economic potential of both countries.
Dak Nong identifies border economic development as one of the important factors in the local economic development strategy. The province has implemented many solutions to increase the efficiency of border trade. Trade promotion is necessary to create conditions for Dak Nong enterprises to promote and introduce products to Cambodian partners.
The province is also implementing the Border Gate Planning on the Vietnam - Cambodia border for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. During this period, Dak Nong focuses on completing the traffic infrastructure connecting the border gate and the inland, prioritizing investment in routes such as Provincial Road 1, Provincial Road 6 and routes connecting Dak Peur border gate to Provincial Road 3.
The ultimate goal is to build Dak Peur and Bu P'rang border gates into smart border gates, with administrative procedures connected between the two sides, in accordance with the capabilities and agreements between the two countries. The vision for 2050 is to upgrade Bu P'rang border gate from a main border gate to an international border gate.
Through these activities, Dak Nong is gradually affirming its position on the regional trade map, opening up many opportunities for local businesses in the coming time.
