According to the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, in the first six months of 2025, Russia was among the top 10 largest source markets for tourists to Vietnam, the only market to experience a record increase of over 139% with 260,000 visitors.

On July 8th, in an interview with Tuoi Tre Online , a representative from Vietluxtour stated that in the first six months of 2025, the number of Russian tourists at Vietluxtour increased by 18% compared to the same period last year.

According to Vietluxtour, the reason for the positive increase in the number of Russian tourists visiting Vietnam may be due to the official resumption of direct flights between Hanoi and Moscow from the beginning of May after a three-year hiatus.

"In particular, Vietnam is a very competitive destination compared to other Southeast Asian countries in terms of safety indicators, unique cuisine , and a tourism market that has recovered well after COVID-19..."

"In addition, Russian tourists love the sea, so beach tourism products are especially attractive to this market," explained Ms. Tran Thi Bao Thu, representative of Vietluxtour.

Looking ahead to the last six months of 2025, Ms. Thu predicts that the number of Russian tourists to Vietnam will continue to grow due to warm, sunny weather, beautiful beaches, and favorable service costs during the off-season, while the Russian ruble is appreciating strongly…

"Therefore, Vietnamese destinations such as the beaches of Lam Dong, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc will be ideal destinations for this market segment during the year-end winter holiday season," Ms. Thu predicted.

According to tourism experts in Ho Chi Minh City, most Russian tourists come to Vietnam on all-inclusive tours and direct flights, spending time relaxing and experiencing the culture with trips that can last from 7 to 12 days.

"In terms of spending, Russian tourists are still willing to use high-end services at hotels and resorts, and are particularly interested in local cuisine, spa treatments, entertainment, and souvenirs. All at reasonable costs, making it safe for family travel. These factors attract, retain, and expand the Russian international tourist market."

Meanwhile, explaining the sharp increase in Russian tourists, the Vietnam National Tourism Administration attributed it to the policy of granting short-term visa exemptions to citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and the Swiss Confederation as part of the tourism stimulus program for 2025.

In addition, growth drivers also come from various policies to remove obstacles, such as visa exemptions and streamlined electronic visa issuance; promoting Vietnamese tourism abroad in Europe; promoting film tourism, and advertising Vietnamese tourism at international tourism fairs…

It is predicted that the number of tourists to Russia will double in 2025 compared to 2024.

According to the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, regarding growth drivers in the first six months of 2025, major markets in the Asian region are the main drivers for the growth in international tourist arrivals, with China leading the way with a 44.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

In addition, nearby markets in Southeast Asia performed well, such as Indonesia, which increased by 11.2%, and the Philippines, which increased by over 100%.

In particular, a number of markets in Europe saw growth, with Russia being the largest market with 260,000 visitors and also experiencing the strongest growth of over 139%.

In 2025, tourism experts predict that Vietnam could welcome approximately 430,000 Russian tourists throughout the year, almost double the number from the previous year.
