According to Mr. Dang Quang Tu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province, the program celebrating the 130th anniversary of Da Lat's formation and development, and receiving the UNESCO title of "Da Lat City of Creative Music," will take place on the night of December 30th. Meanwhile, the New Year's Eve countdown program - Countdown 2024 - will run from 7 PM on December 31st, 2023 to midnight on January 1st, 2024. These two programs are expected to attract a large number of locals and tourists.
Da Lat expects to welcome 420,000 visitors.
Currently, 2,650 accommodation establishments in Da Lat are capable of serving up to 70,000-75,000 tourists per day and night. In addition, Da Lat's tourist areas, attractions, and facilities are also ready to welcome visitors.
Mr. Dang Quang Tu stated that although there may be some inconveniences regarding food and transportation infrastructure (such as potential traffic jams), Da Lat City will fundamentally address these issues, ensuring safety and friendliness for tourists.
The Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has requested enhanced safety measures for tourists visiting Da Lat during the peak tourist season at the end of the year.
According to information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province, in 2023, the total number of visitors to Lam Dong province was estimated at nearly 8.7 million, an increase of more than 15% compared to 2022. Of these, international visitors were estimated at 400,000 (an increase of 166.7%), domestic visitors at nearly 8.3 million (an increase of 12.2%); and overnight visitors at 6.7 million (an increase of 21.8%).
During the celebration of its 130th anniversary, Da Lat City is expected to welcome approximately 420,000 tourists. On the morning of December 14th, Mr. Tran Van Hiep, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, instructed relevant units responsible for security, environmental sanitation, healthcare, and food safety to develop detailed plans to ensure thoroughness and safety before, during, and after the celebration. Through this event, Lam Dong province hopes to leave a positive impression on visitors regarding the culture and lifestyle of the people of Da Lat.
Absolutely no price gouging or unauthorized camping.
The weather in Da Lat during the last days of 2023 is sunny and cool, very suitable for types of tourism such as mountain climbing, sightseeing, and camping at scenic spots like Tuyen Lam Lake.
To ensure the safety of tourists participating in these activities, Mr. Tran Trung Kien, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province, has requested the Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area, Bidoup Nui Ba National Park, and other tourist areas and attractions to absolutely prohibit travel companies from spontaneously organizing camping and outdoor activities, along with tourism services that pose a risk to the health and lives of tourists. In addition, measures to ensure the safety of tourists during visits must be strengthened; attention should be paid to areas around lakes, waterfalls, rivers, and streams. Only adventurous tourism programs and products such as zip-lining, mountain climbing, trekking, and off-road vehicle riding in the mountains should be organized after they have been inspected and certified as fully compliant with safety measures.
Travel agencies and tourism service businesses must publicly display prices and sell at the listed prices. "Absolutely no price gouging, aggressive sales tactics, or fraud in business operations are allowed, ensuring service quality is commensurate with the price of the product," the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized.
Mr. Kien also suggested that units proactively coordinate with functional agencies and local authorities to ensure the safety of tourists and prevent pickpocketing and robbery in tourist areas and attractions. In addition, localities need to direct the People's Committees of wards, communes, and towns to prevent soliciting and competition for customers at cloud-watching spots, photo-checking spots, and spontaneous camping areas.
