The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway Construction Project is a national key project on the North - South expressway axis, located in the Southern key economic region, with a total length of 57.8km, passing through Tay Ninh province (former Long An province), Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai.

In February 2025, more than 10km of the project, including sections from the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway intersection to the National Highway 1 intersection and the section from the Phuoc An intersection to the National Highway 51 intersection, were officially officially opened for traffic and put into operation.

Then, in April 2025, VEC will continue to carry out technical traffic opening and put into operation nearly 20km more of the project from the National Highway 1 intersection to Nguyen Van Tao intersection (in Tay Ninh province (former Long An province) and Ho Chi Minh City). As planned, the entire project will be completed and put into operation synchronously in 2026.

Regarding the usage fee for the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, VEC previously proposed a rate of 2,000 VND/km/vehicle; the proposed price adjustment cycle is 3 years/time, each time increasing by 12%.

Also according to VEC, in the first 6 months of this year, the expressways managed by this enterprise include: Noi Bai - Lao Cai, Cau Gie - Ninh Binh, Da Nang - Quang Ngai, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay with nearly 37 million vehicles passing through, an increase of more than 9% over the same period last year. Of which, Cau Gie - Ninh Binh and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay are two expressways with high traffic volume, both reaching over 12 million vehicles.

Except for the Da Nang - Quang Ngai route, traffic congestion still occurs on the remaining VEC expressways, especially during holidays, Tet and weekends, due to increased traffic volume and some traffic incidents and collisions. While congestion occurs at some times on the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh and Noi Bai - Lao Cai routes, this situation often occurs on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay route, especially at Long Thanh Bridge.

Currently, VEC is focusing all resources to prepare for the commencement of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway Expansion Project, Yen Bai - Lao Cai section, and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway Expansion Project, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh section this year.
