Explore the structure of Commander Cave

Located deep in the primeval forest of Route 20 Quyet Thang, Hang Chi Huy - also known as General Warehouse NH - is a strategic underground structure of Command 559 during the resistance war against the US. With a length of 150m, a width of more than 100m, including 7 solid floors, this place used to be a warehouse for weapons, military equipment, food - an important supply point for transporting thousands of tons of goods across Truong Son to the South. The story of this cave is a clear testament to the spirit of "cutting Truong Son to save the country" of generations of soldiers, youth volunteers, engineers, and frontline workers.

As part of the Project to develop eco-tourism - resort - entertainment in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park in the period of 2021-2030, "Legendary Truong Son Road - Chi Huy Cave" aims to become a key cultural - historical tourism product alongside famous cave exploration routes. Specific goals include increasing the number of visitors by at least 5% per year in the period of 2025-2030, promoting tourism in Quang Tri in particular and Phong Nha - Ke Bang World Natural Heritage in general.

With the desire to bring that historical story closer to the public, the tourism product "Legendary Truong Son Road - Chi Huy Cave" is designed as a journey back in time. Visitors will be guided through vivid exhibition areas: from "Road K" - the legendary closed road, where primitive but determined road-opening tools are displayed; to the strategic logistics reenactment area with military uniforms, food, and equipment that were once present in the cave. The exhibition area of American bomb shells and artillery shells also helps viewers visualize the fierceness of the war that once took place here.

In particular, inside the Command Cave is a 7-storey system renovated into specialized areas: from the first aid area, communication, command and control area to the supply warehouse. The objects, relics, and documents displayed with visual explanations help visitors clearly visualize the operations of a "hidden" warehouse in the heart of the mountain, which once maintained the transportation route for the entire legendary Truong Son route.

According to Mr. Nguyen Chau My - General Director of T20 Quyet Thang Company Limited: "This tourism product is not only to "know" but also to "feel". Tourists will not simply look back at a period of war, but also feel the indomitable spirit, silent sacrifice and extraordinary creativity of our ancestors. By applying technology to heritage, we hope that every Vietnamese person - especially the younger generation - can understand and be more proud of the history of the nation."

A breakthrough highlight in the journey to explore Chi Huy Cave is the virtual reality experience area (VR 9D) - where the feeling of driving a Zil-130 transporting goods on the Truong Son route amid a hail of bombs and bullets is vividly recreated. With surround sound effects, shaking movements, heat, the smell of gunpowder and 360-degree footage, participants will feel like they are reliving the most difficult moments in history.

The scenes are staged in historical order: from "The Bloodline of the Battlefield" - where the convoy stretches out amidst bombs and bullets, "The Roar of War" - the period when the US focused on fierce bombing with B52s, to "Rebirth in Peace" - the bright image of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park today. This is not just an ordinary tourist experience, but a "life lesson" about national history for the younger generation.

Not only does the restoration aim to sustainably preserve natural and cultural resources, the project is expected to raise public awareness of forest protection and heritage preservation, while also creating livelihoods and jobs for local people through supporting services such as transportation, accommodation, food and souvenirs.

With the message "every step is a stick of incense in memory", the eco-tourism area "Legendary Truong Son Road - Chi Huy Cave" is not only a destination, but also an emotional and grateful journey, a place where war memories are awakened amid rich nature, inspiring patriotism, national pride and the desire for peace.
