According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism , in the 9 days from April 25th to May 3rd, the city is estimated to have received 190,000 international visitors and 1.5 million domestic visitors; total tourism revenue is estimated at 8,700 billion VND.
Diverse tourism products
To prepare effectively for activities serving tourists and locals during the summer in general, and especially during the peak holiday season of Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, April 30th, and May 1st, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has focused on implementing various solutions to stimulate tourism. During this time, the city's Department of Tourism also supported the reception of a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) delegation from Indonesia, with approximately 890 guests staying at Kim Do, Huong Sen, Palace, and Muong Thanh hotels.
According to representatives from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the two long holidays at the end of April and beginning of May contributed to a surge in tourism demand throughout the region. Ho Chi Minh City leveraged its regional connectivity advantages, forming a diverse chain of destinations encompassing urban, coastal, ecological, and cultural sites, resulting in a significant increase in visitors, especially domestic tourists.

Travel businesses are also proactively innovating their products in a thematic direction, enhancing cultural and historical experiences, combining high-quality services and diverse modes of transportation such as road, river, and metro.
Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Tra, Deputy General Director of Saigontourist Travel Service Company, said that during the holiday period, the company served a total of approximately 12,660 customers. Of these, about 4,660 were international tourists, including 1,500 passengers brought to Vietnam by the Star Voyager cruise ship that docked in Ha Long and Da Nang ports; and 2,460 European tourists brought to Vietnam by the Mein Schiff 6 that docked in Ha Long port.
Conversely, approximately 2,000 Vietnamese tourists chose 4-8 day itineraries offered by Saigontourist Travel Service Company to destinations such as Laos, South Korea, Japan, Russia, China, Thailand, and Bhutan.
BenThanh Tourist Company reported serving approximately 9,500 customers, a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.
Many vibrant destinations
In other localities, both domestic and international tourists are also flocking in.
Lam Dong province welcomed approximately 970,000 tourists, with total tourism revenue estimated at 2,188 billion VND. According to the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, during the holidays, security, social order, traffic safety, fire prevention, and food safety at tourist areas and attractions were generally ensured.
Authorities in Lam Dong province have intensified patrols and inspections, promptly detecting and handling emerging situations. Prices for tourism services, including accommodation, remain generally stable; tourism businesses strictly adhere to regulations on price listing and selling at the listed prices; no instances of price gouging or aggressive soliciting of customers have been recorded.
During this period, Lam Dong province is organizing many activities to serve tourists and enhance their experience, such as the Sky Fest 30-4 Giant Kite Festival, and the kite-flying festival associated with the Hello Sunny 2026 event...
In the Mui Ne area, many beachfront hotels and resorts achieve occupancy rates of 90%-95% during peak days, with some establishments almost fully booked. Experiential activities such as kitesurfing, jet skiing, sand dune off-road vehicle tours, kite festivals, fishing village visits, and enjoying seafood at night are always popular with tourists. Meanwhile, Phu Quy Island continues to attract visitors thanks to its pristine beauty and island and sea experience tours.
For Khanh Hoa province, the extended holiday period also contributed to a boom in local tourism, welcoming over 1.5 million visitors. According to a report from the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, from April 25th to May 3rd, Khanh Hoa is estimated to have welcomed over 1.5 million tourists; of which 432,000 were overnight guests, and approximately 124,500 were international visitors. The average occupancy rate reached over 80%; hotels and resorts along the coast, in the Tran Phu area, and on the islands recorded occupancy rates exceeding 90%, with many places fully booked throughout the holiday. Total tourism revenue over the 9 days is estimated at 2,638 billion VND.
The influx of tourists to Da Nang City has surged, causing numerous attractions, beaches, and tourist areas to become overcrowded. According to reporters' observations, popular destinations such as Son Tra Peninsula, Ba Na Hills, and Marble Mountains are experiencing extreme crowds, with localized congestion at times. Traffic volume on the roads leading to these tourist spots has also increased significantly.
The Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported that thanks to the organization of diverse and attractive activities and events, along with tourism stimulus programs, the number of visitors to the city increased by more than 15% compared to the same period in 2015. The average occupancy rate across the city reached approximately 60%-65%, while 4-5 star hotels and equivalent establishments are estimated to reach 75%-80%.
Notably, according to online travel platforms, Da Nang continues to affirm its appeal by topping the list of most searched destinations by Vietnamese people in April 2026 on Booking.com, and is also among the localities with the highest number of accommodation searches during the holiday period on Agoda.
Hue City also welcomed a huge number of visitors, estimated at around 395,000, with tourism revenue estimated at 958 billion VND. Average hotel occupancy exceeded 90%, reaching 99% on the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day. The Hue Imperial Citadel complex set a record for ticket sales revenue – 4.21 billion VND with 30,765 visitors, the highest ever in a single day.
Noi Bai Airport welcomes a record number of passengers.
On May 3rd, Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) recorded a significant increase in passenger traffic, reaching 117,853 passengers with 728 flights taking off and landing that day. Of these, 70,160 were domestic passengers and 47,693 were international passengers. This was the highest number of passengers during this year's holiday period, surpassing April 29th with 652 flights and 113,631 passengers.
Thanks to the efficient flight allocation and effective coordination among airport units, operations in the check-in, screening, and baggage claim areas proceeded smoothly, with no localized congestion recorded.
