The number of visitors is gradually increasing.
According to Mr. Hoang Ngoc Linh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Tourism Association, tourism in Ba Ria-Vung Tau has entered its peak summer season since the beginning of June. Coastal tourist centers have recorded a significant increase in weekday occupancy rates. Hotels and resorts with beachfront locations can achieve occupancy rates of 60% or more. On weekends, fully booked accommodations have already begun to appear, with reservations extending until the end of August.
Ms. Dong Thi Thu Hong, Head of Business and Marketing at Emerald Ho Tram Resort, said that since mid-May, the number of bookings for the summer season has started to increase. Currently, from June onwards, the resort is fully booked on weekends, and weekdays are also very busy. Besides families, the resort mainly welcomes groups from Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Dong Nai for accommodation, dining, and conference organization.
Many other hotels and resorts in the province, such as Green, Imperial, Malibu, Fusion Suites Vung Tau, Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort, Le Palmier Ho Tram, etc., have also recorded bookings for the summer season reaching 60-95% capacity, mainly domestic tourists staying for 1 to 2 nights.
Tourism businesses believe that the expressway, which shortens travel time, along with upgraded national highways, has eased traffic congestion, thereby attracting tourists from the Mekong Delta and Southeast regions to Ba Ria-Vung Tau. In addition, tourism infrastructure is becoming increasingly synchronized and modern, and beaches are always kept clean and beautiful. Many new tourist attractions, entertainment venues, sightseeing spots, and photo opportunities have emerged and spread throughout the province. Furthermore, many new tourism projects with large-scale investors, well-promoted and combined with a focus on brand management and tourism image, will certainly create momentum to attract tourists to Ba Ria-Vung Tau this summer.
Tourist Phan Thanh Thao (from Dong Thap) commented: “The face of Vung Tau tourism is rapidly changing, becoming new and modern, which makes me very excited to explore . Especially, Bai Sau beach is so different now, spacious both on the shore and in the sea, with plenty of space for strolling, walking, and taking photos. The coastal area also has many ideal spots for sightseeing, watching the sunrise and sunset, and experiencing the slow pace of life.” Ms. Thao added: “From Dong Thap to Vung Tau now only takes about 5 hours, much faster than before. Before the end of summer, I will bring my family back for another vacation to discover more new things about tourism in Ba Ria-Vung Tau.”
Tourism products are widely available throughout the province.
Ba Ria-Vung Tau has a coastline stretching over 300km, of which more than 150km are flat beaches with white sand. Therefore, along the entire coastal route, the main tourism product is relaxation at resorts and hotels that capitalize on their proximity to the sea.
However, Ba Ria-Vung Tau also possesses many other resources that have been "awakened" to become attractive tourist products. Along the Long Hai - Phuoc Hai tourist route, agricultural production sites have been established for sightseeing, such as the Phuoc Hoi yam cooperative, longan orchards, and coconut groves. The Minh Dam Base Area also attracts tourists with its hiking and trekking activities through the forest.
In the Ho Tram - Binh Chau area, besides its strength as a "capital" of high-end beach resorts, there are also distinctive products such as health and wellness treatments using hot springs at Minera Hot Springs Binh Chau, or experiencing the pristine nature at the Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve through activities like hiking and cycling through the forest, suitable for the trend of rejuvenating energy and balancing body, mind, and spirit.
Nearby areas such as Chau Duc district also stand out with agricultural tourism, exploiting the values of gardens, lakes, and rural life. Currently, the tourism community is concentrated along the Xuan Son-Suoi Rao-Son Binh route with destinations such as Dat Rong Dinh Gia Trang, Suoi Rao Eco, Suoi Rao Forest, Suoi Rao Ecolodge, or experiencing harvesting and making products from cocoa at OCA Viet Nhat (Quang Thanh commune). In Ba Ria city, suburban tourist destinations such as Tu Phuong That Thao and Eco Tan Hung offer spacious, fresh environments with fields and gardens, suitable for locals to relax and enjoy food.
Summer is also the turtle breeding season in Con Dao. Visiting Con Dao during this time, tourists have the opportunity to experience humane tourism products: watching turtles lay eggs, participating in rescue efforts, and releasing baby turtles back into the sea at Con Dao National Park. In addition, activities such as trekking through the forest, snorkeling to admire coral reefs, and visiting the Con Dao Prison National Special Monument are also highlights not to be missed.
