Bringing marigold flowers back to the rice paddies
The Dong Thap flower village in Dan Phuong district is considered the largest gerbera flower capital in Northern Vietnam. Dozens of varieties of flowers in a multitude of colors bloom year-round, making anyone who visits feel like they've wandered into a flower park. Notably, this area was previously rice-growing land, but now the locals have converted 100% of the rice fields to growing flowers, ornamental plants, medicinal herbs, and fruit trees, with gerbera flowers being the most prominent. Linking production with exploiting the local advantages and potential for tourism development has helped this suburban district transform rapidly.
