Cucumber prices have risen sharply.

Việt NamViệt Nam08/03/2024

(HG) - While the prices of many vegetables are gradually cooling down, the price of cucumbers has increased sharply. Specifically, during the Lunar New Year, retail cucumbers at Vi Thanh market, Vi Thanh city, ranged from 8,000-10,000 VND/kg, but now the price has doubled to 18,000-20,000 VND/kg for good quality cucumbers, while lower-quality cucumbers cost 10,000 VND/kg.

Cucumber prices are high, and growers are delighted.

The reason for the decrease in cucumber production is high demand, coupled with hot weather and frequent morning fog, which facilitates disease outbreaks in vegetables. Besides cucumbers, the retail prices of some leafy vegetables are currently at 30,000-35,000 VND/kg, tomatoes at 10,000 VND/kg, sweet cabbage at 15,000 VND/kg, pumpkin at 10,000 VND/kg, and green beans at 20,000 VND/kg…

As of February, the province had over 8,503 hectares planted with various types of vegetables, an increase of 304.37 hectares compared to the same period last year. The estimated production for the first two months of 2024 is over 59,602 tons.
