(CPV) - President Petr Pavel warmly welcomed VicePresident Vo Thi Anh Xuan on her official visit to the Czech Republic; assessed that the traditional friendship and long-term cooperation between the two countries are developing positively in many fields.

On the afternoon of November 14, 2024, in Prague, on the occasion of an official visit to the Czech Republic, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with President Petr Pavel.

President Petr Pavel warmly welcomed Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on her official visit to the Czech Republic; assessed that the traditional friendship and long-term cooperation between the Czech Republic and Vietnam are developing positively in many fields; and said that 2025, the year the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, is a good opportunity for the two sides to increase the exchange of high-level delegations, bringing the bilateral cooperation to a new level.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan agreed with President Petr Pavel's assessment of the bilateral relationship; at the same time, she affirmed that the Vietnamese people always remember and are grateful for the valuable support and assistance that the Czech people gave Vietnam in the past struggle for independence and national reunification and in the current socio-economic development and international integration; and emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to strengthening the traditional friendship with the Czech Republic, Vietnam's leading partner in Central Eastern Europe.

The Vice President said that Vietnam is promoting digital transformation, green transformation, and climate change response for sustainable development; said that this is a new opportunity for Czech enterprises to increase investment and business in Vietnam; asked the Czech Republic to help mobilize the remaining EU countries to soon ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement to create an important legal framework to promote bilateral investment cooperation; urged the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU Yellow Card for Vietnam's seafood exports, ensuring a stable supply for the EU market, including the Czech Republic; asked the Czech Republic to consider signing an agreement on labor cooperation between the two governments to expand the reception of Vietnamese workers, facilitating the issuance of visas for Vietnamese citizens to study and travel in the Czech Republic.

On this occasion, the Vice President thanked the Czech authorities at all levels for supporting and creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to stabilize their lives and integrate more deeply into the local community, especially for recognizing the Vietnamese community as the 14th ethnic group of the Czech Republic.

President Petr Pavel and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan agreed to continue effectively implementing the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), facilitating the presence of each other's goods in each other's market, serving as a gateway for each other to enter the ASEAN and EU markets; agreed that the two sides need to coordinate to review and update bilateral cooperation agreements in line with the new development stage; further promote cooperation in traditional pillars such as science and technology, national defense and security, education and training, culture, tourism, including researching the opening of direct flights between the two countries, promoting people-to-people exchanges.

The two sides highly appreciated the important role and contributions of the community of Vietnamese people who studied in the Czech Republic, many of whom are holding important positions in the Vietnamese state apparatus and economy. The community of 100,000 Vietnamese people in the Czech Republic to the local socio-economy is a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation in many fields.

The two sides agreed that the two countries need to continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums to effectively respond to global challenges, contributing to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world; and agreed that all disputes and conflicts need to be resolved by peaceful means, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and respect for international law.

On this occasion, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan conveyed President Luong Cuong's invitation to visit Vietnam to President Petr Pavel. President Petr Pavel thanked her and happily accepted the invitation./.
