Ms. Tran Thi Tho and her husband, residing in Hamlet 12, Duc An Commune, are facing difficult circumstances. In 2025, the family received 60 million VND in support from the government and relevant departments to repair their old house. In addition to the house repair assistance, Ms. Tho also received financial contributions from officials and Party members to purchase health insurance for her entire family. Initially, the couple will receive support for health insurance until the end of 2026, while their three children will receive free health insurance until 2028.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, head of Hamlet 12, said: "Previously, support mainly focused on livelihoods, agricultural tools, and fertilizers. But after reviewing and analyzing, many poor and near-poor households lacked land and means of livelihood, so we contributed funds and mobilized additional benefactors to provide health insurance cards for medical examinations and treatment."
Ms. Tho shared that having health insurance provides her family with an extra "shield" to protect their health, especially giving them peace of mind to take their children for medical check-ups and treatment without worrying about the cost.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Thuy, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Duc An commune, the model "5 cadres and Party members help 1 household escape poverty" was inherited from the former Dak Song district. Since its implementation, the model has yielded certain results, becoming a source of moral support and a foundation for poor families. After some time, the commune realized that to ensure comprehensive assistance for more people, leaving "no one behind," it is necessary to expand and diversify the forms of assistance. Health insurance is an essential need in universal healthcare. Moreover, it is one of the important criteria in the local new rural development process. Therefore, this support is not only practical and effective but, above all, is a way for cadres and Party members to join hands with the Party committee and the government to realize the target of universal health insurance coverage.
Duc An commune has a total population of 7,588 households with 31,354 people. By 2025, with the coordinated efforts of all levels and sectors, as well as the role and responsibility of cadres and Party members towards the people, the commune aims to have 28,666 health insurance cards/31,065 people participating in health insurance, accounting for 92.3% (achieving 100.3% of the set plan). The Resolution of the Duc An Commune Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term also stipulates that the percentage of the population participating in health insurance must reach over 95%. To further realize this goal, in addition to the solutions proposed by functional levels and sectors, the Commune Party Committee requires each cadre and Party member to uphold the spirit of exemplary conduct, first and foremost by encouraging all their relatives to participate in purchasing health insurance to protect their health. "Every official, Party member, and family member is an active propagandist in promoting and encouraging people to voluntarily purchase health insurance to take care of their health and improve their quality of life," Comrade Pham Thi Thuy emphasized.
