In a moment of drunken mistake, Tung turned himself from a model father into an irresponsible person, causing an accident and then fleeing. When the truth could not be hidden, he had to face a choice: continue to hide or bravely face his mistake?

These are the details in the episode “Atone for mistakes” in the series “Don’t let regrets” broadcast on THVL1. In this episode, actors Huynh Nhu, Dang Thu Thao, Cong Hieu and Huu Le recreated a familiar story but brought a clear and profound message.

The story began when Tung was toasting with his friends when he received news that his daughter had fallen. Rushing home in a drunken state, Tung caused an accident that left Ms. Huong, a single mother, seriously injured and unconscious. Panicking and not seeing anyone around, Tung left the victim and ran away. A few days later, his wife, Ms. Anh, told him about Ms. Huong’s pitiful situation and was angry at the irresponsible accident-causer, which made Tung even more tormented.

Unable to bear the guilt, that night Tung confessed to his wife that he was the one who caused the accident. Finally, Tung and his wife went to the hospital to take care of Ms. Huong, then took her home. Ms. Huong did not pursue the matter and sympathized with Tung because she knew he was urgently worried about his daughter. Tung knelt down to apologize, promised to accept all consequences, adopt Ms. Huong's daughter and support her until she grew up, and continued to help her until Ms. Huong fully recovered — considering it a way to make up for his mistake.

The way Tung and his wife handled the situation ended the episode with a humane message: No matter how big a mistake is, it can be redeemed with courage to face it, a sense of responsibility, and sincere action.

“Don’t Let Regret” airs regularly at 7:35 p.m. every Wednesday on THVL1, and viewers can watch online on the THVLi app. The program brings a realistic story, recreating real situations, sending a profound message so that viewers can contemplate how to calmly face situations.
