Attending the program were Deputy Director Pham Van Thuy; Counselor, Head of Economic Department of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia Nguyen Doan Hai; representatives of the Russian tourism agency and many representatives of leading corporations, travel businesses, airlines, and press and media of the two countries.

Speaking at the program, Deputy Director Pham Van Thuy emphasized that in recent years, the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has developed very positively, cooperation in all fields has been promoted and brought very practical results for both countries. For a long time, Vietnam has become one of the favorite destinations of Russian tourists thanks to its year-round warm climate, beautiful beaches, fine white sand, and clear blue sea. Places such as Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Da Nang or Phu Quoc are famous for their high-class resorts, suitable for beach vacations, especially in winter when Russia is cold.

The Deputy Director shared that Vietnam owns 8 cultural and natural heritages, 14 intangible cultural heritages, and 7 world documentary heritages. Vietnamese cuisine is a series of memorable experiences, from pho, fried spring rolls, spring rolls, sandwiches to fresh seafood... Many Russian tourists especially love Vietnamese cuisine because of its attractive flavors, taste, health benefits and affordable prices. Besides, Vietnamese people are friendly and hospitable. Local people always welcome tourists with smiles, sincerity and enthusiasm, ready to help.

With the above strengths, Vietnamese tourism has affirmed its attractiveness to Russian tourists, demonstrated by the growth figures in recent years. In 2019, the number of Russian tourists to Vietnam reached 650 thousand, ranking 6th among the leading markets sending visitors. After the interruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, in the first 7 months of 2025, the number of Russian tourists to Vietnam is recovering rapidly with a growth rate of 57% over the same period last year, reaching 315 thousand; nearly 3 times the number of visitors in the whole year of 2023 and more than 2 times the number of visitors in 2024. Vietnam is one of the 7 countries with the most Russian tourists, in contrast, Russia is identified as one of the leading key markets of Vietnamese tourism in Eastern Europe.

The Deputy Director believes that this program to introduce Vietnamese tourism in Moscow is a good opportunity for Russian friends to understand more about the country, people, culture and tourism of Vietnam and through you, the image of Vietnam will be introduced to the people of the Russian Federation.

At the program, representatives of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism introduced tourism development policies, destinations, and unique types of tourism in Vietnam. Accordingly, during the official visit to the Russian Federation by General Secretary To Lam, his wife, and a delegation of high-ranking officials on May 8, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation signed a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation for the period 2025-2030. This is a strong commitment of the two sides to strengthen cooperation in tourism development.

The Vietnamese Government has issued favorable policies for Russian citizens. From March 15, 2022, Vietnam will restore unilateral visa exemption for Russian citizens entering Vietnam. From August 15, 2023, Vietnam will exempt visas for Russian citizens with a temporary stay of up to 45 days; in case of applying for an electronic visa, the temporary stay will be increased to 90 days.

In addition, many regular commercial flights and charter flights of Vietnamese airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Russian airlines such as Aeroflot and Azur Air have been reconnected after a period of interruption, which are key factors creating favorable travel conditions and promoting passenger exchange between the two countries.

Within the framework of ASEAN-Russia multilateral cooperation, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism effectively coordinates with the Russian Federation, focusing on activities to promote visitor exchange, cooperation in tourism promotion and training, and improving the quality of human resources.

In the context of Russia's often long and harsh winters, Vietnam has become an ideal choice for "wintering" with its advantages of tropical climate, rich nature, and long coastline. These are the basic factors that help Vietnam maintain its attraction to Russian tourists.

In the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy to 2030, Vietnam focuses on promoting beach resort tourism products in famous and potential destinations such as Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Mui Ne and Da Nang. These localities have developed a synchronous system of high-class accommodation facilities, from 4-5 star resorts, international hotels to coastal villas and friendly homestays, along with health care services such as spas, mud baths, hot mineral springs, yoga and oriental medicine therapy. This is a group of products that suits the tastes of Russian tourists who prefer long, all-inclusive vacations and are interested in relaxing and physically recovering experiences.

In addition to its core product of beach resorts, Vietnam also has outstanding strengths in cultural and heritage tourism. Destinations such as Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An, My Son or Ha Long Bay offer Russian tourists the opportunity to explore its long-standing culture, diverse culinary identity and UNESCO-recognized heritage. This is a plus point that helps Vietnam differentiate itself from many other destinations in the region, while meeting the growing trend of Russian tourists towards experiencing local culture, history and life.

Additional products such as golf tourism, luxury cruises, eco-tourism, sea sports and fresh seafood cuisine are also being focused on developing to serve the high-spending Russian tourist segment, enhancing the experience and increasing the value of the stay. In particular, the presence of the Russian community in Nha Trang and Mui Ne, along with a system of restaurants, shops and services friendly to Russian guests, has created a sense of closeness, safety and familiarity for Russian tourists when choosing Vietnam.

In the context of strong recovery of international tourism demand from Russia, Vietnam has all the conditions to affirm its position as the leading destination in Southeast Asia for the Russian tourist market, while contributing to promoting sustainable growth of the national tourism industry.
