Hue: Hue Nam Temple Festival preserves and promotes the worship of the Mother Goddess of the Three Palaces

The Hue Nam Temple Festival is not only an occasion to honor the worship of the Three Palaces Mother Goddesses but also demonstrates the efforts of Hue city in preserving and promoting the nation's precious intangible cultural heritage.

On August 30, the Hue Nam Temple Festival took place in Hue City. This is one of the largest religious festivals in the Central region, attracting tens of thousands of people and tourists to attend.

The festival began early in the morning of August 30 with the procession of boats carrying the Holy Mother departing from wharf 352 Chi Lang, going up the Huong River and stopping in front of Thien Mu Pagoda to offer incense and pay respects, before continuing the journey to Dien Hue Nam wharf.

After noon, the representative of the Organizing Committee beat the drum to open the festival, opening the solemn rituals: the announcement ceremony, the main ceremony, the prayer ceremony for national peace and prosperity. In the royal court music and the resounding Chau Van singing, the festival atmosphere blends between silence and splendor and solemnity.

The special thing about Dien Hue Nam Festival is the community connection with about 20,000-30,000 attendees, 32 degrees and cases registered to participate.

Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City, said that the Hue Nam Temple Festival not only has spiritual value but is also a vivid demonstration of efforts to preserve and promote national intangible cultural heritage.

This is an occasion to honor the worship of the Mother Goddesses of the Three Realms, which has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This year's organization has been carefully prepared.

To ensure the festival takes place in a civilized, safe and friendly manner, the Organizing Committee has coordinated with many units and functional forces to ensure security, order, fire prevention and fighting, health care , environmental sanitation, and traffic regulation for tens of thousands of pilgrims.

In particular, the festival has the cooperation of the community and organizations, minimizing the use of state budget but still ensuring solemnity and effectiveness.

The festival takes place from August 30 to September 1 (ie the 8th to the 10th of the 7th lunar month).

The National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 has created strong momentum with many cultural and tourism events organized continuously since the beginning of the year, contributing to enhancing the position and image of Hue tourism on the domestic and international tourism map.

The Hue Nam Temple Festival is not only a cultural and spiritual event but also a reminder of the morality of "remembering the source of the water you drink," national pride and the responsibility to preserve heritage.

Amidst the modern pace of life, the festival is a testament to the strong vitality of Hue culture - a peaceful, sacred land where heritage and spirituality blend to nurture the Vietnamese soul.

In the first 7 months of 2025, Hue city welcomed more than 4 million visitors (up more than 71% over the same period in 2024), including more than 1.2 million international visitors (up 41%), and nearly 1.5 million overnight guests. Total revenue from tourism reached about 7,455 billion VND (up 56%)./.
