The World Heritage Cities Conference in Hue achieved many positive results.

On October 16, the Closing Ceremony of the 5th Asia -Pacific Regional Conference of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC-AP) took place in Hue city.

The Conference program took place over 3 days, with many rich activities: visiting the Complex of Hue Monuments, awarding prizes for content creation competitions and learning about World Heritage; reporting on the activities of the Regional Secretariat; announcing the host city of OWHC-AP 2027; traditional Vietnamese-Korean fashion exchange and a special Hue royal art program.

In addition, the Mayoral Workshop and Academic Workshop will introduce six important presentations on sustainable conservation, digital technology application and the role of community in heritage urban development.

More than 100 domestic and international delegates from 7 countries (Korea, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam), including nearly 30 mayors and representatives of member cities; leading regional heritage experts, and 50 high school students of Hue city participated in the World Heritage Competition - Golden Bell.

This is an opportunity for multi-dimensional exchange and connection between generations, from policymakers to young people - the future successor force.

In his closing speech, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City, affirmed that after 3 days of exciting, profound and effective activities, the 5th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC-AP) was a great success.

"With the core theme: Improving the quality of life for sustainable development of World Heritage Cities, we have achieved many remarkable results, affirming the position of the OWHC-AP forum as an effective cooperation bridge.

Discussion sessions, sharing typical experiences and creative solutions around this topic not only help localities learn from each other but also lay the foundation for specific cooperation projects in the future, building policies to preserve and promote sustainable heritage to improve livability and serve the people," Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh emphasized.

According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, at the conference, member cities shared valuable experiences in preserving the past to create the future and sustainable development so that people can live better.

This is the common aspiration and strategic goal that Hue, as the first world heritage city of Vietnam, has always steadfastly pursued.

Hue City commits to continue to work closely with OWHC and other member cities to realize common goals of heritage conservation and sustainable urban development.

On this occasion, the representative of the Hue City People's Committee handed over the flag to host the Conference to the representative of Andong City of Korea to organize the 6th OWHC-AP Regional Conference in 2027./.
