On the afternoon of October 21, the International Organization for Conservation of Nature in Vietnam coordinated with the Department of Tourism of Hue City and the People's Committee of Dan Dien Commune (Hue) to organize the launching ceremony of the Cu Lac-Ngu My Thanh Plastic Reduction Mural Road to promote tourism development and contribute to reducing plastic waste at this tourist destination.

The route belongs to the project " Hue - Plastic-reducing city in Central Vietnam" sponsored by the International Union for Conservation of Nature in Vietnam.

The Ngu My Thanh-Con Toc plastic reduction tourist destination was established in early 2025. Here, 8 tourism service businesses have committed to implementing many specific measures to reduce plastic waste in business operations.

The facilities are supported with initial equipment such as glass water bottles, drinking water filters, “Plastic Reduction Facility” identification boards, waste sorting bins, etc. to synchronize the model and ensure practicality during operation.

In addition, Hue College of Tourism also cooperates with travel agencies to organize experiential tours at Ngu My Thanh-Con Toc, focusing on reducing plastic waste.

The launch of the plastic-reducing mural route in Ngu My Thanh village will become a new highlight in the journey to build a green, clean and friendly community tourism destination here.

The route was made by young artists, volunteers and local people with 10 vivid paintings.

The works clearly depict the lives of fishermen in Tam Giang lagoon, the unique ecological landscape, along with messages about environmental protection, reducing plastic waste and spreading green lifestyles in the community.

Mr. Pham Cong Phuoc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dan Dien Commune, said that the project not only contributes to beautifying the rural landscape, creating a new look for the villages along the lagoon, but also becomes a visual tool, raising people's awareness of environmental protection; creating a new highlight for developing eco-tourism and community tourism in the commune.

The locality hopes to continue receiving support from international organizations and accompanying units in the coming time to expand mural routes, connect tourist attractions, and promote the image of the countryside along Tam Giang lagoon as "green, clean, and beautiful," aiming for the goal of sustainable development associated with environmental protection.

Ms. Hoang Ngoc Tuong Van, manager of the project “Hue - Plastic-reducing city in Central Vietnam” emphasized that the mural route is a symbol of the joint efforts between the government, people and tourists in the journey to build a sustainable tourist destination.

After completion, this route will continue to be preserved and protected by the community and tourists as part of the memories associated with the beautiful fishing village.

When each individual is conscious of preserving them, the paintings not only retain their original beauty, but also become a vivid testament to the community's efforts in protecting the environment, spreading the message of reducing plastic waste./.
