Truong Sa Island in strong winds seen from a helicopter

Truong Sa Lon Island ( Khanh Hoa ) seen from a helicopter of the Vietnam Air Force. The island has a port, wharf or jetty for ships to enter and exit, and receive supplies, food, and fuel.

The image was recorded by a working delegation of Helicopter Regiment 917 when they visited and worked with officers and soldiers on duty on the island on a stormy day with strong winds reaching level 5 and 7.

In addition to the trips to Truong Sa by many units, organizations and groups by ship, there are also many cases where the Army needs to use night flights, flights through storms, in bad weather conditions to carry out rescue and medical emergency missions from Truong Sa islands to the mainland.

Forces such as the Navy, Border Guard, Air Defense... wore uniforms and neat formations. The national flag was raised in a solemn ceremony, fluttering in the middle of the ocean. The music of "Marching Song" resounded in the windy sea and the sound of the waves added to the sacred feelings in the hearts of those present on the island.

At the administrative center of the island, there is a stone slab with the Vietnamese national emblem and engraved with the poem Nam Quoc Son Ha, known as Vietnam's first declaration of independence.

The presence of the stone slab has great significance for national sovereignty and patriotism.

After the reorganization of administrative units, Khanh Hoa province has 65 commune-level administrative units, including: 48 communes, 16 wards and Truong Sa special zone. Truong Sa special zone is an island region with an extremely important geostrategic position and under the sovereignty of Vietnam.

Truong Sa Special Zone is formed on the basis of the entire natural area and population size of Truong Sa town, Song Tu Tay commune and Sinh Ton commune.

On Truong Sa Lon Island, there is a Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs, which is the first place that working delegations often visit and offer incense when they arrive on the island. The project has a total area of 670 square meters with a stone monument nearly 13 meters high, expressing deep gratitude to the outstanding sons of the Fatherland who sacrificed to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands.

The pagoda on Truong Sa Lon Island is located in the center of the island. The pagoda has a structure similar to Vietnamese pagodas with curved tiled roofs. Inside the pagoda grounds is a large jade Buddha statue. At night, the pagoda is often lit up, creating a very peaceful scene.

Also located in the center of the island, near the sovereignty marker is the Capital Guest House, built as a gift for the officers, soldiers and people here. Inaugurated in May 2010, the building has typical Hanoi architecture, including 2 floors with 21 rooms and 50 beds. This is the place to welcome and provide accommodation for groups of visitors from the mainland to visit the island.

The Mi-171 helicopter, registration number SAR 04, just landed on Truong Sa Lon Island. The flight crew took a souvenir photo with officers and soldiers on the island.
