This is a meaningful activity to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2025), the 36th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2025) and the 60th anniversary of the 5th Division's Traditional Day (November 23, 1965 - November 23, 2025).
Nearly 400 union officials, female workers, civil servants and outstanding laborers of the city, along with officers and soldiers of Division 5, reviewed the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, the indomitable and loyal spirit of "Uncle Ho's soldiers"; learned about the formation, fighting and growth process of Division 5 - the unit twice awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Phan Hoai Quyet, Deputy Political Commissar of Division 5, the unit was established on November 23, 1965, and was one of the first two main divisions on the Southeast battlefield during the resistance war against American imperialism to save the country. Over the past 60 years, the blood, sweat and footprints of officers and soldiers of Division 5 have been deeply imprinted on the battlefields of the South Central, Southeast, the Southwest border and neighboring Cambodia.

Entering the new period, the Division continues to maintain its mettle, improve overall quality, training, and combat readiness; be proactive, creative, and self-reliant to excellently complete all assigned tasks, upholding the tradition of "Unity, courage, mobility, self-reliance, and defeating all enemies".
Speaking at the program, Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, expressed her appreciation for the silent contributions of the military forces in general and the officers and soldiers of Division 5 in particular. She also affirmed that the city's workers, civil servants and laborers are always aware that the development of enterprises, agencies and organizations is not only based on the foundation of creative labor but also on the solid protection of the Vietnam People's Army. Today's achievements have the silent contributions of soldiers who are training day and night, ready to fight for the peace of the people. The program is an opportunity for the city's Trade Union officers and workers to better understand and connect with the armed forces, thereby increasing empathy, sharing and responsibility.
According to Vice President of the City Labor Federation Nguyen Kim Loan, this is the second year the program has been organized and is gradually becoming a highlight in the coordination activities between the City Labor Union and the armed forces.

“We are committed to continuing to accompany military units, creating more exchange and connection activities and providing practical care. Each worker will always strive in production, proud of having the strong protection of the Vietnam People's Army,” Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan shared.
Within the framework of the program, the delegation of workers and officials of the city's Trade Union visited the Traditional House of Division 5; learned about the unit's combat history; experienced military life; visited the barracks and production areas; visited the training area and participated in cultural and sports exchanges with the soldiers. Many female workers expressed their emotion and pride when witnessing with their own eyes the spirit of discipline, order and daily life of the soldiers in difficult conditions.
After spending nearly a day with the soldiers of Division 5, Ms. Dang Thi Thanh Lam, a teacher at Binh Chuan 2 Secondary School, shared: "Coming to Division 5, we not only experienced the military environment but also understood more about the silent sacrifices of the soldiers. The program helped us to be more attached, proud and responsible in our daily work."
