Efforts to search for drowned child in Ha Thanh River

On December 5, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quy Nhon Dong Ward (Gia Lai Province) Tran Viet Quang confirmed that a drowning incident had just occurred in the area, leaving a child missing. Currently, the authorities are still urgently organizing a search.

The initial preliminary report said that VTK (born in 2011) and TVM (born in 2011) both lived on Thap Doi Street, playing volleyball at the yard of Group 1 (Quy Nhon Dong Ward). At about 5:00 p.m. on December 5, the ball fell into the Ha Thanh River. The two followed the ball, and when they reached the salt company, K. and M. rowed a boat out to get the ball. When they reached the middle of the river, the water flooded into the boat and sank it. Discovering the incident, Mr. Tran Thanh Tuan, who lived nearby, came out to rescue VTK. TVM, however, was sunk and could not be saved.

Authorities and local people are continuing to search for M.
