Announcement of 2 million USD aid to support flood recovery in Central Vietnam

On the afternoon of December 5, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced an emergency international aid package worth 2 million USD to support overcoming the consequences of recent natural disasters in Central Vietnam.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep received Mr. Shantanu Chakraborty, ADB Country Director in Vietnam, and received the official letter of confirmation of the aid from ADB. The aid was disbursed from the Asia- Pacific Disaster Response Fund (APDRF), aiming to help people severely affected by floods in the Central region recover their lives.

ADB Country Director for Viet Nam Shantanu Chakraborty expressed his deep condolences for the losses suffered by the people in the central region due to prolonged floods. He affirmed that the emergency aid from the Asia- Pacific Disaster Response Fund is a testament to ADB's commitment to accompany Viet Nam in responding to natural disasters and supporting people to overcome difficulties soon.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep thanked the ADB for its timely attention and support, and affirmed that this international emergency aid is of great significance, necessary and timely, contributing to helping people in flood-affected areas overcome the consequences and quickly stabilize their lives. The aid is expected to be used to build and repair houses for households whose houses have collapsed and suffered heavy damage due to natural disasters in accordance with the spirit of the "Quang Trung Speedy Campaign" launched by the Vietnamese Government .

In the coming time, the necessary procedures to approve the aid will be signed between relevant agencies, between Vietnam and ADB, the time to implement the aid is 6 months from the date of signing.

Previously, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Official Dispatch No. 234/CD-TTg, dated November 30, 2025, on launching and implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign" to rapidly rebuild and repair houses for families whose houses were damaged by recent natural disasters in the Central provinces.
