ADB will provide emergency financial assistance of up to $3 million to Sri Lanka; $2 million to Thailand; and $2 million to Vietnam.

“I am deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the devastating floods. The governments and people of Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Viet Nam can rest assured that ADB will support the countries to stabilize and rebuild affected communities. ADB will work closely with the countries to bring safe haven, solidarity, and hope to those affected by these terrible disasters,” said Masato Kanda.

The grants, drawn from the Asia- Pacific Disaster Response Fund (APDRF), will support emergency and humanitarian efforts. The APDRF is a source of rapid funding for developing member countries to assist people in the immediate aftermath of major natural disasters.

Floods have caused severe loss of life and damage to property and infrastructure across South and Southeast Asia.

Mr. Minh
