Strengthening quality management and developing markets for agricultural, forestry and fishery products

(CT) - According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City, implementing the program of monitoring residues in farmed animals and aquatic animal products, since the beginning of the year, the city has collected 357/606 samples (pangasius, black tiger shrimp, sea bass, whiteleg shrimp, etc.). The results show that 320 samples meet the requirements; 1 sample of two-breed catfish is contaminated with banned chemicals; 36 samples are awaiting results. For the contaminated samples, the unit has coordinated with the Southern Region Quality, Processing and Market Development Department to determine the cause and report the results to the superior agency according to regulations.

The seafood products of Nhat Tam Cooperative have been recognized by the city as part of a safe agricultural, forestry, and fisheries supply chain.

In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Environment assessed and issued food safety certificates to 288 establishments, bringing the total number of establishments under management in the city to 1,141. Simultaneously, it organized 70 establishments to implement commitments to produce and trade safe agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products. The city has now certified 183 safe food supply chains, encompassing 529 products.

Regarding the development of markets for agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products, the Department of Agriculture and Environment regularly informs businesses in the city to continue updating products and goods on the chonongsan.vn website for products certified as safe agricultural, forestry, and aquatic supply chain products, and products certified under the OCOP program; promoting the consumption of agricultural products through conferences, seminars, exhibitions in provinces and regions, and meetings with foreign partners. The Department also advises on connecting and promoting trade, finding markets for Vinh Chau purple onions, with a total annual planting area of ​​approximately 7,200 hectares, a total expected production of 117,000 tons, of which more than 1,148 hectares are produced organically.
