On December 14th, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online, Mr. Dang Van Dung - Director of the Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway Project (under Project Management Board 7, Ministry of Construction ) - said that the remaining 13km of the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway is expected to be opened to traffic on December 19th.

According to Mr. Dung, the State Council for Construction Project Acceptance Inspection has inspected the remaining 13km of the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway (the section from the Co Ma tunnel entrance in Dai Lan commune to the interchange in Van Ninh commune, Khanh Hoa province). The relevant unit is currently completing the handover procedures as per regulations.

Regarding the rest stops on the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway, Mr. Dung said they are expected to be operational in March 2026, and that authorities had already arranged temporary rest stops along this expressway beforehand.

"In addition, we have also adjusted the traffic organization plan at the Co Ma intersection to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow," Mr. Dung said.

After this 13km section is opened to traffic, during the upcoming New Year and Lunar New Year holidays, residents and tourists can travel from Ho Chi Minh City to the southern entrance of the Co Ma Tunnel, located in Dai Lan commune (Khanh Hoa province), via the following continuous expressways: Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay, Dau Giay - Phan Thiet, Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet, Cam Lam - Vinh Hao, Nha Trang - Cam Lam, and Van Phong - Nha Trang.

Thus, along with the 70.3km already completed and operational since April 19th, the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway has now been completed, and the eastern North-South expressway passing through Khanh Hoa province is now fully open.

The opening of the 13km Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway also aims to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Once fully operational, the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway will help alleviate congestion on National Highway 1, facilitate faster goods transportation, contribute to the formation of new urban areas, industrial zones, and service areas along the route, and boost the breakthrough development of the Van Phong Economic Zone.

The Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway project has a total investment of VND 11,808 billion, is 83.35 km long, and connects with the Nha Trang - Cam Lam expressway. Construction began in January 2023.
