On the afternoon of December 14th, the Vietnamese women's team defeated Indonesia 5-0 in the first semi-final match of the 33rd SEA Games.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, coach Mai Duc Chung couldn't hide his satisfaction with his players' performance. He said this victory was especially meaningful as the entire team had successfully achieved all three important goals: a convincing win, a clean sheet, and most importantly, maintaining the team's strength with no players suffering injuries.
Explaining the game's dynamics in the first 45 minutes, the veteran coach admitted that the team's formation was somewhat disjointed due to personnel decisions.
However, adjustments in the second half yielded immediate results. Bringing Thanh Nha and Tran Thi Duyen onto the field helped the Vietnamese women's team push forward, creating a completely dominant game and scoring consecutive goals to seal a resounding victory.
Heading into the final, the 74-year-old coach displayed immense confidence regardless of the opponent.
He emphasized: "Having reached the final, every opponent is the same; no matter which team we face, we will be highly determined."
This is the 10th time the Vietnamese women's football team has reached the SEA Games final, which is a great honor. The whole team will try their best and achieve the best possible result."
On this occasion, the head coach of the Vietnamese women's national team also expressed his deep gratitude to the fans. He emotionally stated that although the number of spectators wasn't huge, the support from the fans who traveled all the way from Vietnam was a great source of encouragement, making the whole team extremely excited.
Vietnam's opponent in the final will be the winner of the match between Thailand and the Philippines, which starts at 6:30 PM today, December 14th.
