This is a successful continuation of the "Fly Lightly to Con Dao" campaign in 2024, thereby strongly spreading the green lifestyle and attracting thousands of passengers and people to participate.

Vietnam Airlines promotes online check-in to limit paper cards and labels and stops using paper invitation cards to enter the lounge for economy class passengers.

The "Fly Lightly with Vietnam Airlines" campaign has been upgraded to a national scale in 5 years (2025 - 2030), aiming at the long-term goal in the sustainable development journey of Vietnam Airlines. If in 2024, the light flying campaign started from Con Dao with the message of preserving the marine ecosystem, this year, "Fly Lightly to Hanoi " continues to spread the spirit of environmental protection while promoting the beauty of the capital in the gentle autumn.

The campaign kicked off with a flight carrying the message "Fly Lightly to Hanoi". This is a sustainable flight that Vietnam Airlines has applied many green solutions in all stages of operation.

At the airport, Vietnam Airlines promotes online check-in to limit paper cards and labels and stops using paper invitation cards to enter the waiting room for economy class passengers. For cargo, the airline uses lightweight containers (ULD) and encourages passengers to reduce the weight of their luggage to reduce the load, save fuel and join hands for a green journey.

On flights, Vietnam Airlines replaces disposable foam ice boxes with reusable materials, sorts trash on board, uses biodegradable blanket bags, and encourages passengers to bring their own cups and glasses. The airline controls the rate of leftover meals through consumption data analysis, adjusts reasonable quotas, and applies pre-ordering to help reduce food waste and plastic waste.

Passengers will be introduced and encouraged to take small but practical actions such as reducing luggage, checking in online, bringing a water bottle or personal cup to use. Actual data shows that nearly 80% of passengers on the "Fly Lightly to Hanoi" flight performed online check-in and biometrics during the entire flight. By reducing the aircraft's weight, the flight will reduce fuel consumption, reduce CO2 emissions and "lighten" the impact on the environment.

At the same time, VNA applies many technical solutions for aircraft such as dry cleaning of aircraft, periodic engine cleaning and aircraft door alignment to reduce fuel consumption.

Also on the light flight to Hanoi, nearly 250 passengers will witness the ceremony of handing over the partnership symbol of the "Fly Light with Vietnam Airlines" campaign between Vietnam Airlines, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the EPMA Association. This ceremony marks the close cooperation, commitment to reduce emissions, protect the environment and spread the message of green living in the community.

In parallel with the activities on flights, Vietnam Airlines also implemented a plastic collection program at a series of cultural and tourism events in Hanoi in the "Touch Hanoi Autumn" campaign, which was jointly implemented by VNA and the Hanoi People's Committee. The airline's plastic collection stations are located in crowded places. The collected plastic products will be recycled into useful items, then donated to organizations, schools and children in difficult circumstances.

In particular, "Fly Lightly to Hanoi" is one of the typical activities that Vietnam Airlines plans to register to participate in "The Aviation Challenge 2025" organized by SkyTeam Alliance, to honor green initiatives and efforts to reduce emissions in the global aviation industry. Participating in this international playground affirms Vietnam Airlines' strong commitment to pioneering the implementation of a sustainable development strategy, towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
