On October 21, digital travel platform Agoda recorded a 59% increase in searches for accommodation in Vietnam from Eastern European markets. This increase reflects the positive effects of the relaxed visa policy, making it easier for European tourists to access and explore Vietnam.
The new visa-free policy for citizens of 12 European countries took effect on August 15. Agoda data shows that there is particular interest from Eastern European travelers, with searches from Slovenia increasing by 77%, Poland by 74%, Bulgaria by 72%, Romania by 69% and Slovakia by 61%.
Data was compiled from Agoda searches between August 15 and September 30, with check-in dates ranging from October to November, and compared year-on-year.
“Data clearly shows that simplifying immigration procedures and improving accessibility have contributed to the increase in visitors from Europe and other distant markets to Vietnam,” said Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda, Vietnam.
Eastern European tourists are increasingly interested in exploring Vietnam, focusing on 5 outstanding destinations. Topping the list is Phu Quoc Island with an impressive growth of 113% compared to the same period last year. Following the tropical pearl island are the two bustling cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, holding the second and third positions, with increases of 77% and 56% respectively. Rounding out the top 5 list of Eastern European visitors are the two coastal cities of Da Nang and Nha Trang. Both recorded increases in searches of 36% and 35% respectively.

The level of interest from European tourists recorded by Agoda is similar to the data of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. Accordingly, the data of the Department shows that the number of visitors from this region increased by nearly 35% in the first 9 months of 2025. In the third quarter alone, Vietnam welcomed 568,370 European visitors, an increase of 38% compared to the previous quarter and a sharp increase of 60% compared to the same period last year.
“The expanded visa exemption policy has made Vietnam more accessible and attractive to European tourists. We are delighted to contribute to this growth and help attract more international visitors to Vietnam through our user-friendly platform, integrating support tools with the best deals from booking accommodation, air tickets to experiential activities. With Agoda, planning and enjoying your journey to explore Vietnam is easier than ever,” said Mr. Lam.
With over 6 million accommodation options, 130,000 flight routes and 300,000 activities combined in one booking, Agoda makes it easy for European travellers to plan their trip to Vietnam.
