Spread love from humanitarian programs

Recently, during three working days in Chiem Hoa (Tuyen Quang), more than 50 doctors and volunteers organized free medical examinations for nearly 100 patients, performed 18 surgeries, awarded 20 scholarships, many valuable gifts and inaugurated a school worth 800 million VND, expanding the medical-educational support model for people in the highlands.

From December 5 to 7, a delegation of the Sala Humanitarian Club led by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Manh Khanh, Deputy Director of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, President of the Club, along with more than 50 doctors and volunteers, was present in Chiem Hoa. The delegation visited and gave gifts to nearly 100 patients; performed 18 surgeries, mainly related to congenital malformations, old injuries or long-term sequelae.

Some cases with injuries of more than 40 years due to tendon adhesions, muscle deformities or joint damage now have the opportunity to recover mobility after intervention. All patients are supported with travel expenses and given gifts. Chiem Hoa Regional Medical Center has arranged enough human resources, operating rooms and professional conditions to ensure safety throughout the surgery.

Among the patients who received surgery, Ms. Mai Thi Nu, Hung Tien village, Tan My commune, emotionally shared: “I fell when I was young, my arm has been contracted since then but I did not have the conditions to return to Hanoi for treatment. When I heard that a team of doctors from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital would come to examine and perform free surgery, I registered and had surgery right away. Before, I never thought I would be able to lift my finger. Now that I can move after the surgery, I am very happy."

In parallel with the surgery, the team transferred many specialized techniques to the grassroots medical team such as hip replacement, knee surgery, and tendon-muscle reconstruction. The model of "examination - surgery - technology transfer" right at the regional hospital is considered a new approach, contributing to reducing costs and limiting the situation of long-distance referrals.

Specialist II Doctor Ha Van Linh, Director of Chiem Hoa Regional Medical Center said: “Working directly with doctors from Sala Humanitarian Club is a great opportunity for the on-site team to improve their capacity. We are not only instructed in difficult techniques but also learn about the organization and handling of complex cases. This is very practical support for grassroots medical care.”

In the field of education , the delegation inaugurated the first phase of Khau Luong-Khau Lang school (Kien Thiet commune) with a total cost of 800 million VND contributed by the Club and benefactors. The project was newly built in a difficult residential area, where there had been no school for many years and students had to walk 25km to get to the main school. The new school helps students study right in the village, significantly reducing the travel distance and the risk of dropping out. During the ceremony, the delegation planted souvenir trees and presented milk, cakes, and school supplies to students in the village.

Also during the program, the delegation visited Ngoan A village school, Chiem Hoa commune, one of the facilities lacking teaching equipment. The delegation supported three sets of computers, and also gave school bags, warm clothes and many gifts to the students. Notably, 20 students with difficult circumstances at Ngoan A school received 20 Ngo Van Toan scholarships, each worth 1 million VND, contributing to supporting the cost of studying and encouraging them to continue going to class.

The operation in Chiem Hoa marks a new development step of Sala Club after 15 years of implementing humanitarian programs, from medical support, technology transfer and now expanding to education. This year, the program received the support of the Department of Health of Tuyen Quang province, Chiem Hoa Regional Medical Center and many units and enterprises such as Tuyen Quang Provincial Police, BIDV Bank Transaction Office Branch 1, PVN Group - Ngoc Linh Ginseng Vietnam, LOF Company, Milana, Mr. Bui Cao Son, Vina-Med, Southern Sponsorship Group...

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Manh Khanh shared: “The club aims to implement increasingly systematic and high-quality programs, focusing on difficult areas; thereby providing practical support for the health and education of local people.”

Not only stopping at surgeries or material gifts, this mission aims to synchronously support the two fields of health and education, solving immediate needs while creating a foundation for sustainable changes. Equipping computers helps teachers access new teaching methods; students are familiarized with digital skills. Scholarships motivate students to continue their studies despite difficult economic conditions.

These charitable activities contribute to narrowing the gap between regions, affirming the meaning of joining hands for the community, especially in remote areas. When people have better access to health services and children have more opportunities to study, the quality of life of the locality will be improved, opening up positive and sustainable development directions for the future.
