Quang Ninh: Awakening potential, elevating products

As a locality with full advantages in resources and culture, Quang Ninh tourism is strongly promoting and exploiting those golden resources into products, gradually perfecting the tourism space.

According to tourism experts, Quang Ninh has valuable resources for the province to develop diverse, unique and international tourism products. In fact, Quang Ninh has a strategic position with both land and sea borders, diverse landscapes from mountains to islands. Quang Ninh has forests and hills accounting for 80%, sea and island areas of more than 6,100 km² with a system of islands, bays, primeval forests, relics and craft villages rich in identity; has Ha Long Bay, the Complex of Monuments and Landscapes of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac honored by UNESCO.

With diverse natural resources, Quang Ninh is promoting and developing many unique tourism products.

Accordingly, from the Vietnam Tourism Product Development Strategy in 2018, the tourism industry has consulted, approved and implemented many key projects such as: Developing sea and island tourism in Ha Long - Van Don - Co To, sustainable community tourism, night-time economy and tourism recovery in the period 2023-2030.

In recent years, Quang Ninh has strongly developed four main tourism product lines from sea and islands, culture - spirituality, ecology - community and border tourism. Tourists can experience everything from resorts, visiting bays, exploring fishing villages to trekking in the mountains, enjoying local cuisine.

Mountainous communes take advantage of the wild landscape to develop community and adventure tourism such as mountain climbing, trekking, conquering the "Dinosaur's Back", exploring Khe Van waterfall and the border route. In particular, adventure tourism products are becoming a new development direction, meeting the experience trend of young tourists. Currently, Quang Ninh has Ha Long Hot Air Balloon Joint Stock Company operating sightseeing flights from a height of hundreds of meters, bringing a different perspective of the wonders of Ha Long Bay.

Over the past 10 years, tourism products in the province have continued to be developed, focusing on 11 main groups, including many new and potential groups such as products related to sports, scientific research, and cultural values. Some businesses are surveying and expanding paragliding, off-road racing, trekking combined with exploring the culture of the Dao, Tay, and San Chi ethnic groups. These products not only renew the tourism experience but also contribute to affirming the brand "Four Seasons Wonder", where visitors can come at any time of the year to find new emotions.

Along with product development, the province has promoted investment in accommodation infrastructure, with 1 national tourist area, 5 provincial areas, nearly 90 tourist attractions and more than 20 itineraries on Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long. The night-time economic development project opens a new direction for Quang Ninh tourism.

Art events, festivals and night streets such as “Halo! Halo Fest”, “VuiFest Ha Long”, “Superfest” or “Skywave Ha Long” turn Bai Chay and Sun Carnival into vibrant meeting places, attracting thousands of tourists. Along with the live show “Finding the Pearl”, yacht streets and luxury resorts, Quang Ninh is gradually forming a night tourism ecosystem connecting sea - island - forest - border.

Quang Ninh strongly develops many new products such as sports tourism and adventure tourism.

However, Quang Ninh tourism still has challenges that need to be resolved such as: There are not many international-class products, the potential to exploit Bai Tu Long Bay is still open, the legal framework for adventure and night tourism is not yet complete; promotion has not created a breakthrough, small businesses lack capital, and supporting infrastructure in remote areas is still weak.

The province will continue to attract investment, improve mechanisms and develop diverse products, linked to the advantages of each locality. Aiming for the goal of "Four Seasons Wonder", the province prioritizes new products such as adventure, eco-tourism, sports and health care, affirming its position as a national and regional tourism center.
