The document states that, in accordance with Plan No. 414/KH-UBND dated January 24, 2025, of the People's Committee of Phu Tho province on organizing the Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the Hung Kings' Land Culture and Tourism Week in the Year of the Snake 2025, the Hung Kings Temple historical site has actively coordinated with districts, cities, towns, and relevant units to implement the plan.
However, on April 3, 2025, the People's Committee of Phu Tho province issued Document No. 1539/UBND-KGVX regarding the implementation of the special commemoration of the national mourning for Comrade Khamtay Siphandone, former President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic . Based on the actual situation regarding the time and scale of activities planned for the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day on April 4 and 5, the Hung Kings' Temple Historical Site will suspend two events: the Lion and Dragon Dance performance and the procession of palanquins by communes, wards, and towns in the Hung Kings' Temple Historical Site area (April 4, 2025) and the competition for wrapping and cooking banh chung (rice cakes) and pounding banh giay (rice cakes) (April 5, 2025).
Earlier on the morning of April 4th, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province announced that many recreational, entertainment, and sporting activities within the framework of the Hung Kings Commemoration Day – Hung Kings' Land Culture and Tourism Week in the year of the Snake 2025, scheduled for April 4th and 5th, would be postponed to observe the national mourning period. Specifically, the matches of the Hung Kings Cup volleyball tournament, originally scheduled for April 4th, 2025 (corresponding to the 7th day of the 3rd lunar month of the year of the Snake), were postponed to April 6th (corresponding to the 9th day of the 3rd lunar month of the year of the Snake).
On April 3-4, the People's Committee of Phu Tho province issued urgent document No. 1539/UBND-KGVX regarding the implementation of the Special Announcement on the National Mourning for Comrade Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, former President, and former Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
The document states that, in accordance with the Special Communiqué of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the national mourning for the former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, former President, and former Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Khamtay Siphandone, and based on Government Decree No. 105/2012/ND-CP dated December 17, 2012, the People's Committee of Phu Tho province requests all agencies and offices in the province to fly flags at half-mast for two days, April 4, 2025 and April 5, 2025.
In Phu Tho province, during the two days of national mourning, agencies, units, organizations, individuals, and entertainment establishments will suspend or postpone the organization of art programs and public entertainment activities.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (the Standing Agency of the Organizing Committee for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week in the Year of the Snake 2025), the Hung Kings Historical Relic Site, the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities, and other agencies, units, organizations, individuals, and entertainment establishments are requested to stop, postpone, or reschedule public art, entertainment, and recreational activities within the framework of the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week in the Year of the Snake 2025.
