For many years, the Lang Son Hope Center (Huu Lung commune) and the Loc Binh Hope Center (Loc Binh commune) have become a common home for many orphans and children with particularly difficult circumstances in the province. Through comprehensive care and attention, the centers have helped these children overcome their inferiority complex, rise above their circumstances, and confidently look towards a better future.
The Loc Binh Hope Center was founded by Mr. Nguyen Trung Chatt in 2003. In 2020, Mr. Chatt mobilized organizations and philanthropists to donate and build the Lang Son Hope Center (Huu Lung) to expand the care and support for more disadvantaged children. From 2003 to the present, the centers have cared for nearly 300 orphaned children and those with particularly difficult circumstances.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Chat, Director of Loc Binh Hope Center and Lang Son Hope Center, shared: In the early days of operation, the two centers faced many difficulties, especially in terms of funding to maintain the care and nurturing of children. However, with the determination of the Board of Directors and the support from the community, the centers have gradually overcome obstacles and stabilized their operations. From 2024 to the present, Loc Binh Hope Center has also implemented a model of producing bottled clean water, both serving the needs of daily life and creating additional funds to support the care of children at the center.
Currently, the two centers are caring for and nurturing nearly 60 orphaned children and children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Here, 100% of the children who are healthy and of school age attend school and are provided with all necessary textbooks and learning materials. The centers regularly monitor and support the children's learning and development; organize life skills classes, moral education , self-protection skills training, and various cultural, artistic, sports, and experiential activities. In addition, the centers prioritize the children's health and nutrition. Annually, the centers coordinate to organize regular health check-ups, monitoring the children's nutritional status and physical development. Currently, 100% of the children in the centers have health records and receive at least one health check-up per year.
Ha Dang Khoa (born in 2017, Trang Dinh commune) comes from a particularly difficult background. His parents divorced and left to work far away, leaving him to live with his grandparents who are in poor health. In 2022, Khoa was taken in and cared for at the Loc Binh Hope Center. Khoa shared: "Here, I receive care and education in a warm and loving environment. I will try my best to study well so that I can have a stable job in the future, take care of my grandparents, and help other children in difficult circumstances."
In addition, the Party Committee, the government, and various departments and organizations in the province have always shown concern and support for children at the centers through many practical activities such as organizing extracurricular life skills activities and children's forums, contributing to improving communication skills, self-confidence, and the ability to integrate into the community.
Thanks to the love and dedicated care, many of those children have now grown up to become teachers, police officers, soldiers, and more, returning to visit their old home with deep gratitude.
A prime example is Tang Thi Khuyen (born in 1992) from Loc Binh commune. In 2003, Khuyen was taken in and cared for at the Loc Binh Hope Center. After many years of care and opportunities for education, the little girl from back then is now a teacher in Mau Son commune. Teacher Tang Thi Khuyen shared: "The years I spent at the center gave me the strength to strive in life. Therefore, I always want to contribute my efforts to share and guide the children in the same way I once received love."
Mr. Lo Tien Vinh, Head of the Social Affairs Department of the Provincial Department of Health, said: "In the past, the Lang Son Hope Center and the Loc Binh Hope Center have made many practical contributions to the care and protection of children in particularly difficult circumstances. Not only have they ensured adequate living and learning conditions, but the centers have also focused on life skills education and psychological care, helping the children confidently integrate into the community. In the future, relevant agencies will continue to support and create conditions for the centers to operate more effectively and sustainably."
It is evident that, through the love and support of the community, the "Hope" shelters are instilling confidence and motivation in children from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them to confidently move forward on their journey to adulthood.
