Let's explore this new feature and how it can improve your Gmail experience.
Emoji "emotion" in Gmail
Emojis, those fun and playful symbols, aren't just for quick chats on messaging apps. Google added them to Gmail to make dry emails more fun. You don't have to type a lot or search for complicated replies anymore. Instead, just pick an "emotional" emoji that matches your mood or sentiment.
Emojis not only help you express yourself quickly, but they also create a more personal touch in email communications. They can make conversations more fun and make it easier to share ideas and feedback.
Only on Android?
The feature has already started rolling out to Android devices. To use it, simply open an email in the Gmail app and look for the smiley icon at the bottom. Tap on it, and a menu will appear with emoji “emotions” to choose from. What’s cool is that each “emotion” comes with a fun little animation. For example, if you select the party balloon icon, you’ll see your screen rain down party emojis when you send an email or open an email that has the party balloon “emotion.” However, for non-Gmail users, each “emotion” will be received as a separate email.
Coming soon to IOS and Web
If you're an iOS user or want to use this feature on the web version of Gmail, don't worry. According to Google, the "emotional" Emoji feature will be available on iOS devices and the web version in the next few months. This means it won't be long before you experience the fun of using emoji to express your "feelings" in emails.
While Smart Replies can be a nice convenience in some cases, Gmail's "emotional" Emojis add a layer of creativity and fun to our everyday email communications. Get ready to add a little color to your inbox!
