Hanoi Power Corporation (EVNHANOI) affirms that on May 27, 2026, EVNHANOI did not implement any planned power outages in Hanoi. Some information circulating on social media regarding the power outage schedule for that day is inaccurate.

During the peak of the hot weather, EVNHANOI postponed previously scheduled power outages, except in cases where it was absolutely necessary to prevent potential incidents.

EVNHANOI is strengthening its 24/7 on-call duty, inspecting the power grid in areas with high load demand, preparing sufficient personnel, vehicles, materials and equipment, and being ready to quickly handle any arising situations, in order to ensure safe and stable electricity supply for people and businesses in the capital city.

EVNHANOI recommends that customers check official information via the website evnhanoi.vn, the EVNHANOI application, or the Customer Care Hotline 19001288; and refrain from sharing unverified information on social media.

EVNHANOI recommends that customers use electricity economically, efficiently, and safely during peak hot weather: turn off unnecessary devices, set air conditioners to 26°C or higher, and limit the simultaneous use of multiple high-power devices.

According to information from the Hanoi Power Corporation (EVNHANOI), at 9:30 PM on May 25, 2026, Hanoi's load capacity reached 6,203 MW; the daily electricity consumption reached 125.873 million kWh. This is a record high ever recorded on the capital's power system.

Previously, Hanoi's electricity consumption also increased continuously day by day, from 94.4 million kWh on May 20th to 97.4 million kWh on May 21st; reaching over 101.9 million kWh on May 22nd and approximately 106.1 million kWh on May 23rd; on May 24th, the city's total electricity consumption reached approximately 109.9 million kWh.

According to EVNHANOI's leadership, the continuously high temperatures over several days have led to a sharp increase in the demand for air conditioners and cooling equipment in households, offices, and shopping centers, especially during peak evening hours. This has caused a rapid increase in the power system's load in a short period, creating significant pressure on the dispatch and operation of the power grid.

Meanwhile, on May 25th, electricity consumption in the area managed by the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) exceeded 400 million kWh/day for the first time, while peak power also set a new record.

According to EVNNPC's records, electricity consumption in the 17 northern provinces and cities managed by the Corporation (excluding Hanoi) has consistently remained at very high levels in recent days. Peak power (Pmax) reached 18,666 MW on May 23, 2026; and 18,387 MW on May 24, 2026. By 10:30 PM on May 25, 2026, the peak power across the entire northern region set a new record at 20,471.92 MW, surpassing the highest peak of 2025 recorded on August 4, 2025, at 18,983.9 MW.

Not only has peak power capacity increased significantly, but electricity consumption has also exceeded 400 million kWh/day for the first time. Specifically, on May 25, 2026, electricity consumption in the entire North reached 418.503 million kWh, significantly higher than the peak consumption of 393.090 million kWh recorded on August 4, 2025, in 2025.
