The intense heatwave lasting through the last days of May caused localized power outages in some areas of Hanoi , disrupting people's lives at a time when outdoor temperatures consistently exceeded 39-40 degrees Celsius.
Following information circulating on social media about scheduled power outages, the Hanoi Power Corporation (EVNHANOI) affirmed that it does not implement rotational power cuts, and that the main causes are localized incidents and overloads on the power grid.
Regarding the scheduled power outage on May 27th, EVNHANOI stated that there are no planned power outages in the city. Information posted on social media about power outages is inaccurate.

During the peak of the hot weather, EVNHANOI proactively postponed all previously scheduled power outages (except in cases with a high risk of causing incidents); and simultaneously implemented comprehensive operational plans: strengthening 24/7 on-call duty, inspecting the power grid in areas with high load demand, preparing sufficient personnel, vehicles, materials and equipment, and being ready to quickly handle any arising situations.
In recent days, intense heat and humid weather have led to a surge in electricity demand, with power consumption and output in the capital reaching new records. EVNHANOI recommends that customers turn off unnecessary electrical appliances, set air conditioners above 26 degrees Celsius, and limit the simultaneous use of multiple high-power appliances.
EVNHANOI recommends that customers check official information via the website evnhanoi.vn, the EVNHANOI application, or the Customer Care Hotline 19001288; and refrain from sharing unverified information on social media.
EVNHANOI recommends that customers use electricity economically, efficiently, and safely during peak hot weather: turn off unnecessary devices, set air conditioners to 26°C or higher, and limit the simultaneous use of multiple high-power devices.
