According to information from the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City today, as of the deadline for registering for the second round of the Vietnam-Academic Competency Assessment Exam (V-ACT) in 2026, 172,622 candidates had registered, of which 169,935 had completed the fee payment.
Specifically, 109,957 candidates who participated in the first round re-registered for the exam, while 59,978 candidates only registered for the second round. Compared to the same period in 2025 (97,387 candidates), the number of registrations this year increased by 77.25%.
The second round of the V-ACT exam is scheduled to take place on May 24th at testing sites in nine provinces and cities, including Thua Thien Hue, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, and An Giang .

Due to the high demand for exam participation, the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) has coordinated with higher education institutions to add more exam locations in all localities that held exams in the first phase. These additions include: Da Nang (in Da Nang and the former Quang Nam), Quang Ngai (in the former Quang Ngai), and Dak Lak (in the former Phu Yen). This expansion provides candidates in the Central region and neighboring provinces with more suitable exam location options, saving costs and travel time. As a result, the total number of localities holding the second phase of exams in 2026 has increased to 15 provinces and cities (after mergers).
Expanding the network of examination centers not only makes it more convenient for candidates to travel but also demonstrates proactiveness and flexibility in organizing a large-scale examination, aiming to better serve learners.
Candidates are allowed to adjust their exam location and complete the payment of fees until April 27th. The Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City will send email notifications to candidates in areas with newly added exam locations so they can choose and change their location accordingly. Candidates should check and update their personal information accurately to avoid any problems during the exam.
Previously, on April 5th, the first round of the V-ACT exam took place with the participation of 133,489 candidates, achieving a participation rate of 98.33% compared to the number of registered candidates. After 8 years of implementation (2018–2025), this exam has gradually affirmed its position as a popular admissions method chosen by many higher education institutions, with more than 110 schools using the results for admissions.
