According to information from the Ministry of Health , the Department of Preventive Medicine, Ministry of Health, in coordination with the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, has distributed the DPT-VGB-Hib vaccine (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, pneumonia/meningitis caused by Hib bacteria) to serve the needs of the expanded immunization program.
Accordingly, on December 27th, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology sent a document to the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology, the Pasteur Institute, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 63 provinces and cities regarding the allocation of this vaccine.

Previously, on December 16th, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology received 490,600 doses of DPT-VGB-Hib vaccine donated to Vietnam by the Australian Government through the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
After receiving the vaccine, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology sent samples and documentation for testing to the National Institute of Vaccine and Medical Biological Products Testing for quality control before use, in accordance with regulations of the Ministry of Health.
On December 26th, the National Institute for Vaccine and Biological Products Testing issued a Certificate of Release for the aforementioned vaccines. Accordingly, these vaccines meet the requirements for use in the expanded immunization program.
On December 26th, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology distributed vaccines according to the plan reported to the Ministry of Health and proceeded with transporting the vaccines to the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology/Pasteur Institutes in four regions: the North, South, Central, and Central Highlands.
At the same time, the Institute has directed its units to be ready to distribute DPT-VGB-Hib vaccine to provinces/cities. Specifically, provinces/cities in the northern region can receive the vaccine from December 27th, while provinces/cities in the remaining regions can receive the vaccine 1-2 days later when it is transferred to the regional warehouses.
According to the plan, the DPT-VGB-Hib vaccine will be rolled out at commune and ward health stations nationwide starting in early January 2024. Priority will be given to administering the first dose to children aged 2 to 18 months, after which the second and third doses may be administered to children who have not received all three doses of the DPT-VGB-Hib vaccine.
The Ministry of Health requests that the Directors of the Departments of Health in provinces and cities direct the allocation and organization of DPT-VGB-Hib vaccination in their areas, ensuring that it is administered to the correct target groups, safely, and effectively.
