Rice prices continue to rise slightly.

Today, January 17, 2025, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region showed little fluctuation; rice prices remained relatively stable, and paddy prices were unchanged compared to yesterday.

Specifically, regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the current prices are as follows: IR 50404 rice (fresh) ranges from 6,200 to 6,400 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice ranges from 6,500 to 6,700 VND/kg; OM 18 rice (fresh) ranges from 7,600 to 7,800 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice (fresh) ranges from 7,600 to 7,800 VND/kg; OM 380 rice is at 6,600 to 6,700 VND/kg; Nhat rice is at 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg; and Nang Hoa 9 is at 9,200 VND/kg.

Observations in many localities today show a lack of buyers and slow transactions. In Dong Thap, transactions for the winter-spring rice crop are slow; farmers are offering slightly higher prices for rice harvested immediately or before Tet, but few buyers. In Can Tho , winter-spring rice transactions are also slow; farmers are offering to sell rice harvested after Tet, but traders are buying little, mainly just observing prices.

In Kien Giang, the supply of autumn-winter rice is still limited, farmers are offering it at slightly higher prices, and transactions are slow. In Bac Lieu , prices have increased slightly, but demand remains sluggish. In Soc Trang, rice prices are relatively stable, and demand has not improved.

Similarly, regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the price of raw OM 380 rice has increased by 50 VND, fluctuating between 7,550 and 7,700 VND/kg; raw IR 504 rice has also increased by 100 VND, fluctuating between 7,800 and 8,000 VND/kg; finished OM 380 rice fluctuates between 8,800 and 9,000 VND/kg; and finished IR 504 rice fluctuates between 9,500 and 9,700 VND/kg.

Regarding by-products, the prices of various by-products fluctuate between 5,700 and 7,200 VND/kg. Currently, the price of fragrant rice bran has increased by 100 VND, fluctuating between 7,000 and 7,200 VND/kg; the price of dry rice bran fluctuates between 5,700 and 5,800 VND/kg.

Observations in various localities today show low supply and slow trading. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), the supply is low, prices remain stable, and purchases are sporadic. In Lap Vo - Vam Cong (Dong Thap), the supply is sparse, prices have increased slightly, and warehouses are still buying slowly; fragrant rice is being purchased at a higher price than yesterday.

At Sa Dec market (Dong Thap province), rice supplies are low, warehouses are buying sporadically, and prices of all types of rice have edged up compared to yesterday due to limited supply. In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang province), rice is available sporadically, mostly low-quality rice with few good grains, and prices remain relatively stable.

At retail markets, rice prices remain the same as yesterday. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price at 28,000 VND/kg; regular rice ranges from 15,000 to 17,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice ranges from 18,000 to 20,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice is 21,500 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice is 20,000 to 22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice is 22,000 VND/kg; common white rice is 17,500 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is 21,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice ranges from 18,000 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice is 21,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice is 22,500 VND/kg.

On the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices remained stable today compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the current price for 5% broken rice is $422/ton; 25% broken rice is $398/ton; and 100% broken rice is $326/ton.
