Every evening, I visit Hoi An Street restaurant, located on Mac Dinh Chi Street (Ben Nghe Ward, District 1). Despite being brand new, having only recently opened, the restaurant is already bustling with customers.
The restaurant's ambiance is impressive, with its brightly colored lanterns illuminating the space at night.
The restaurant's interior is creatively decorated, reflecting a distinctly Vietnamese style.
Open from 6:30 AM to 10 PM, however, the restaurant's ambiance at night is particularly impressive, with lanterns hanging from the ceiling casting a dazzling array of colors. When I visited, the restaurant was packed with not only Vietnamese diners but also foreign tourists.
Speaking to Thanh Nien newspaper, Ms. Huynh Ngoc Tran, representative of Hoi An Street, said that with the desire to introduce Vietnamese culture to tourists, especially international tourists, the restaurant has recreated the tranquil atmosphere of Hoi An ancient town, with characteristics of the three regions of Vietnam.
"The restaurant showcases folk and traditional elements, highlighted by colorful lanterns that recreate a quaint corner of the old town in the heart of bustling Saigon, as well as traditional Vietnamese music played at fixed times to convey the traditional culture of Vietnam," Ms. Tran added.
The restaurant was crowded with foreign tourists.
Accordingly, the menu here is diverse, featuring authentic Vietnamese dishes, from traditional to innovative culinary creations. Central Vietnamese specialties such as Hoi An chicken rice, Quang noodles, banh ram it (fried rice cakes), and banh xeo (Vietnamese savory pancakes) are particularly popular with diners due to their rich flavors.
Mr. Hong Nhan (26 years old, residing in District 3) said he accidentally learned about the newly opened restaurant through social media. Originally from Quang Nam province, Mr. Nhan felt a sense of familiarity with the restaurant's atmosphere, so he visited to have a meal with his relatives.
"Here, I feel a sense of familiarity, like a miniature Hoi An with my childhood memories. I like coming here in the evening when the restaurant is brightly lit with colorful lanterns, very Hoi An," the guest commented.
