Binh Phuoc: African swine fever outbreak announced in Tan Xuan ward
On May 8, the People's Committee of Dong Xoai City (Binh Phuoc Province) issued a decision to announce African swine fever in Tan Xuan Ward. Accordingly, the epidemic area is identified in Tan Xuan Ward and the threatened area within a 3km radius of Tan Thien Ward, Tan Binh Ward, Tan Phu Ward, Tan Dong Ward, Dong Xoai City and Tien Hung Commune, Tan Phuoc Commune of Dong Phu District.
At the same time, the Dong Xoai City interdisciplinary team has just destroyed all the spoiled pork that tested positive for African swine fever virus. This amount of pork was previously seized at the illegal processing facility of Ms. To Thi Buoi in Tan Tra 1 neighborhood, Tan Binh ward.
Previously, on May 1, the authorities took samples from Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong’s household and determined that there was another serum sample positive for the African swine fever virus. Immediately after that, all infected pigs and related products were destroyed according to regulations. The remaining 25 pigs that tested negative were required to be transported to a centralized slaughterhouse and were only allowed to be consumed domestically within the city.
On April 30, the Economic Police Department, Binh Phuoc Provincial Police, in coordination with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine and other relevant agencies inspected the facility and discovered 781 kg of pork of unknown origin and without a quarantine certificate. The pork was declared to have been purchased by Ms. Buoi from Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (Tan Xuan Ward, Dong Xoai City) and a business household at Binh Dien Market (Ho Chi Minh City). Through testing, a sample of meat in the shipment tested positive for African swine fever virus, according to Binh Phuoc newspaper .
